Runaway Couple Given Permission For Marriage

Russia Discussed
WASHINGTON (UPI) - Ad
ministration officials meet with
a joint session of the House For
eign Affairs committee and the
House Agriculture committee
today to discuss a possible
wheat deal with Russia. .
The closed-door session was
called at the request of Presi
dent Kennedy.
On hand for the discussion
will be Agriculture Secretary
Orville Freeman and Com
merce Secretary Luther Hodges.
The meeting followed reports
that American businessmen
have been conferring in Canada
with Russian delegates to dis
cuss the sale of surplus wheat.
Russia already has signed a
half billion dollar agreement
with Canada for wheat.

that more surplus products have
not been sold to foreign nations.

just smiled. She looked tired.
They drove off in their
old light blue car to the apart
ment they had shared for three
weeks.
Miss Davis, her long, dark
hair hanging loose, wore a
trenchcoat over a plain dress,
and flat-style shoes without
stockings. Jones, tielcss, wore
his old high sehol blazer with a
"1!)()3" class label on the breast
pocket.
Jones, a 1963 graduate of
Chestnut Hill Academy, a col
lege preparatory school, told
newsmen he and his bride-to-be
planned to stay in Des Moines
"(or a while," although no defi
nite plans had been made.
He said he might continue sell
ing encyclopedias.
His boss, James Walden, said,
"As far as I am concerned,
Jnncs is slaying with our firm."
Walden said Jones could keep
Ihe job as long as he wanted
"He's a real good man, a hard
worker."
Russia Ratifies
Test Ban Treaty
MOSCOW (UPD-The Presid
ium of the Supreme Soviet
this nation's highest legislative
body has unanimously ratified
the partial nuclear test ban
treaty.
The ratification,' a formality
under the Soviet system, came
shortly after the U.S. Senate
also voted overwhelmingly to
ratily the treaty, which prohib
its nuclear explosions in the at
mosphere, outer space and un
derwater.
The Supreme Soviet's foreign
affairs committee earlier rec
ommended ratification and the
Soviet press has praised the
treaty constantly since the day
it was signed.
The Supreme Soviet acts as
the Soviet legislature. The Pre
sidium handles the Supreme
Soviet's business while the main
body is in recess, as it is now.
