I want to blow our friends to a restaurant dinner, with coffee and cake at our house? Mr. G. K. What's wrong with coffee and cake at our house? Mrs. G. K. We are in our early 70s and we're lucky enough to be rather popular with friends of both our own and our chil dren's generations. During the past year we've been dinner guests, often more than once. at about a dozen homes. 1 simply haven t the energy to rccipo cate. We're in moderate circum stances, but I'm sure we can afford a modest hotel party to even the score. Mr. G. K. I don't sec any need of tit for tat. I'm sure people invite us because they feel we contribute to the success of the party. I'm no slouch I've been around and I still manage to keep up with what's new. As a retired private detective, I never run out of yarns and our friends seem to enjoy them. They can serve elaborate din ners if they want to, but I pre fer simple entertaining. THE COUNCIL: The best re medy we ever heard of for Search Abandoned For Sfratotankers Orlando, Fla. ( UPI) - The Air Force Monday night aban doned the search for two jet stratotankcrs missing with 11 crewmen since Wednesday on a refueling flight over the Atlan tic Ocean. Debris from the two Strategic Air Command flying filling sta tions has been recovered from the Atlantic during five days of searching, but no trace of the men has been found. The Air Force officially ended the search with a terse an nouncement and said a board of inquiry would begin studying the debris in an effort to fix the cause of the crash of the two planes. Speculation was that the planes collided in flight. Debris fniuiil between Bermuda and the Bahamas has been deter mined to have come from both planes. The planes were en route back to Homestead Air Force Base south of Miami when they vanished about noon last Wed nesday. They had refueled in the air two B47s which return ed safely to their base in Kansas. Hal Krueger Steve Hess FELDMAN-OLSON ELECTRIC FJ 920 South Grape -A- Commercial FUSE BOX PROBLEMS? We doubt that this attractive couple will lose any friends or be skipped over on the invites if they beg on returning seven-course din ner parties. Better a dinner of herbs, say the Bible, where love is (coffee-and-cake is in the same league), than a dif ficult banquet, sav we. which leaves the hostess a rumpled irazzie . . .But as a special splurge we commend Mrs. K.'s suggestion. A wife, perhaps more than her husband, feels the imbalance in always being on the receiving end of delight ful bids. She craves the ex pansive sensation of playing munificent hostess herself.
