Holiday Traffic Death Toll Soars By United Press International The holiday traffic death toll climbed past 400 and the most dangerous hours of the long La bor Day week end began today. A new record for Labor Day week end traffic death was fear ed. The National Safety Council said the toll might reach 584 by the end of the 78-hour holi day at midnight tonight. The present Labor Day record is 501 deaths. A United Press International county at 10:30 a.m. (pdt) show ed 431 persons dead in traffic since the holiday began at 6 p.m. Friday. Obituaries HENRY F. MARTIN Montague Henry Fleming Martin. 58, a native of Siski you county, died in Klamath Falls, Aug. 28. He was born in Little Shasta, July 31, 1905, a son of the late Henry A. and Lulu Dimmick Martin, both members of pio neer families. Hank, as he was called by his friends, went to local schools and for many years was em ployed in this vicinity. For the past 13 years he worked with the Klamath Production agen ey, with Siskiyou county as his area for most of that time. He made his home in Klamath Falls. Besides his widow, Velma Martin, he is survived by a sis ter, Mrs. Annabelle Burket, Montague and a brother, Elmer M. Martin, loctl postmaster and a number of nephews. Funeral services and i nter ment were held in Klamath Falls, Aug. 31. The fire, reported to the fire department at 10 p.m., started from an unknown source on the back porch of the house and burned into the attic. The house, located in a group of other vacated buildings owned by the U.S. government, is on the site of the future parking lot for the proposed federal building and post office. The youth is being held in Shas ta county juvenile detention home, Redding, Calif. w Church Entered Medford citv police were notified about 5:50 p.m. Saturday that the Seventh Day Adventist church, 1900 Greenwood ave., had been broken into. No damage was re ported and nothing was missing, officers said. Man Arrested Jerrell Nor man Kirklin, 522 South Fir St., was arrested by Medford city police on a disorderly conduct charge Saturday evening. He was lodged in city jail. Trailer Fire Medford rural firemen responded to a house trailer fire about 3 p.m. Sunday at 3761 South Pacific highwav. The 35-foot trailer, owned by Bill Bowman, had its interior heav ily damaged by the blaze. The owner was away at the time of the fire, firemen reported. Fire Extinguished Crews from the Grants Pass office of the State Forestry department and the Grants Pass Rural Fire department were called out at 3:15 p.m. Sunday to extinguish a fire on Missouri Flat rd.
