Skaar, pas tor of First Southern Baptist church, will continue in his series of sermons on the Ten Commandments at the sorv ices Sunday. His topic for the morning worship hour will be "Spiritual Worship." Song service will begin at 10:45 a.m., Dennis Sampels directing. Mrs. Avis Hobbs will be organist and Mrs. Sampels will be at the piano. At the 8 p.m. service the pastor's message will be on "Reverence for God's Name." Wednesday, Sept. 4, will be the final business confer ence meeting of the church year. The nominating com mittee has given a partial re port on officers for the com ing year and others will be presented at the Wednesday meeting. James Funston has been reelected Sunday school su perintendent and David L. Johnson has again been chosen to serve as treasurer. Lester Dugan Named to Post Lester M. Dugan, who serves the Medford - Central Point congregations of Je hovah's Witnesses as district minister, has been named as sistant convention manager for the Everlasting Good News convention to be held at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif., Sept. 1 to 8. Dugan has been serving at convention headquarters since June 25 lining up the organi zation. A veteran organizer, Dugan will share the responsi bility of supervising 20 de partments geared to accommo date an estimated 70,000 dele gates coming from 50 states and 24 foreign countries. The Pasadena gather i n g will climax the series of as semblies which began in Mil waukee, Wise, June 30. and now progressing around the world to over 23 cities includ. ing London, Munich, Delhi, Seoul, and Honolulu. Harold M. Sanner, pastor of the First Church of the Naz arene of Medford. The church, which is locat ed at 520 North Holly St., is mid-way in a stewardship en. listment program. Laymen are in leadership and partici pating in each of the major services, speaking on the sud ject "Why I Tithe". Jack Delmonte will give a tenor solo during the 1 1 a.m. service and Mrs. Rex Vowell will sing with him in a duet, as announced by Perry Chris tiansen, minister of music. The pastor's message in the 7 p.m. service will be on the subject "Faith for the Fu ture". Music will be fur nished by the Evangel choir and a teen-age girls trio. The annual Sunday school picnic will be held at Haw thorne park from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Labor Day. All the usual activities for such a gathering will take place with a potluck dinner at noon. The activities of the day are under the direction of each of the Sunday school depart ments with Lisie Young as general chairman. Two Churches List Activities Central Point "Eating the Bread of Anxious Toil" is the title of the sermon by the Rev. Donald Krug, Sun day at the Central Point Presbyterian church. The choir will sing "The Voice of MSny Waters" by Norton. Fol lowing the 11 a. m. service, a coffee fellowship will be held. The Junior High youth group will meet at 7 p. m. to view a filmstrip on "The Bi ble." At the same time, the topic for the Senior Highs is to be "Christian Symbols. Two classes for those inter ested in church membership will begin next week. Dr. Krug has announced that the class for young people will meet the next five Sundays at 6 p.m. beginning Sept. 1, preceding the regular Youth fellowship. The first of five sessions for adults will be held Wednesday, Sept. 4, at 7:30 p.m. al the church. Rose Elaine Lightburne, Eugene, minister of the Unity church, will be guest speaker for the Unity churth of Medford, Holly and Haven sts., at the 11:15 a.m. Sunday service. Her subject wil be "Your Miracle Con sciousness." The text is tak en from John 14:10-20. Miss Lightburne assisted the Rev. Ross Goodman, minister of the Unity church in Port land, before going to Eugene. The Rev. OREGON Management, Labor and Church To Be Discussed In observance of Labor Day, members of the panel for Ministers' Roundtable will discuss the subject: "The Institutions of Labor, Man agement and the Church in Creative Relationship." The program is tele cast at 11 a.m. by station KMED TV on Saturday. The pro gram will also be heard on Sunday at 8:05 a.m. over ra dio station KMED. Sunday Subject Is 'Two Miles' "Two Miles" will be the title of the Sunday message by minister John V. Norman North rup, associate minister, will present the sermons at the First Christian church Sun day morning. Following a La bor Day theme he will speak on "Let Jesus Step Into Your Work." A mixed quartet composed of Mrs. Eleanor Hamilton, Mr. and Mrs. Marmie Olson, and Robert D. Church will sing "How Great Thou Art" at both the services. Mrs. Paul Andrews and Mrs. Ruby Hicks will host the coffee hour following the second service. The three youth fellowships will meet at 6 p.m. Sunday for recreation followed by a devotional period. Many of the youth and their sponsors will go to Little River Chris tian camp near Glide, Ore. Monday to help close the camp for the winter. The an nual meeting of the Southern Oregon Association of Chris tian Churches, owners of the camp, will be held Monday afternoon. Rally Day Plans Listed for GH Gold Hill-Plans for a Rally day on Sunday, Sept. 29 are being arranged by the Gold Hill Christian church Sunday school classes. Each class will have an individual part. After church on that date a wiener roast will be held, putting to use the new barbecue pit com pleted Aug. 27 by Dewey V. Jeffrey, minister and Lee Currey. The barbecue pit will be used for cookouts and was built primarily with the idea that the young folks could combine this facility with their activities at the church. Representing organized labor will be Kenneth Phillips, busincs manager of Electrical Workers Union, Local 59. What kind of a creative re lationship can labor and man agement have with the church? What is the role of each during periods of labor unrest? What kind of a rela tionship can the church have with labor and management both during tranquility and unrest? Congregational Service Noted "The Rule of Practical Sympathy" is the title of the sermon that the Rev. Robert W. Tull will preach as the Congregational church meets for worship on Sunday. Pastor Harley Davidson stated that there will be church school at 9:45 a.m. at the local church. Registration for the insti tute will start Saturday, Aug. 31, at the Allen School build ing, Bend. Camping facilities are available near Bend at Shevlin County park or Tu malo State park. For housing, contact Elder Milton Petrie, 1533 West Eighth St., Bend.
