SI .20 Grange News Phoenix Grange At the last meeting of Phoenix Grange, Mrs. Har Iand Glasscock asked mem bers to save large paper bags for the rummage sale plan ned for Sept. 13. It was sug gested that articles for the sale be gathered now; also those who preferred could bring them to the hall at the meeting preceding the sale. Mr. and Mrs. James R. Price were elected members and will receive the first and second degree' work at the next meeting. Cattle prices have dropped slightly, according to Charles Hockersmith. He said that anyone interested in the calf project may contact the Grange Co-op at Central Point for the details. It was reported that the potato crop will be small this year be cause of the freezing weath er during the spring. Mrs. L. R. Thomas stated that it is now time to sep arate and replant primroses. The legislative report by Melvin Lattie included that the federal income tax is fair ly certain to be reduced after Jan. 1. He mentioned how the Civil Rights program is af fecting some schools in the East. He also stated that the State Granpe and the Pomona Grange are opposed to the Oregon slate tax referral pe tition. He explained how school districts could be af fected if special elections are necessitated. Vaughn Quackenbush showed a display of arrow heads that were found on the Hanley farm at Jacksonville and told about the Indians of this locale. They were known to be some of the finest crafts men in the United States.
