Dick West Invents Game for Replacement of Television Show THIRST QUENCHED Of all the ways to quench one's thirst, these two seem to have found one of the best after a hard hot day at play. Even if the temperature did get to only 90 degrees, Brent Frerck and his dog find the bubbling water refreshing at Little Rock, Ark. (UPI) Copitol Memo 'Aloha Week' Slated For Oregonians at National Conclave Salem (IIPD Next week is "Aloha week" for 16 Oregon legislators, two state offi cials, and sev eral wives The occasion is the meet ing in Hono lulu, Hawaii, of the nation al legislative c o n f e rence, Aug. 19 23. At the same time the In- i terstate cooperation commls ; lion will hold its annual 'meeting in Honolulu. Eighteen of the Oregonians ' attending the meetings will I travel, eat and be housed at Utate expense during the week of the conferences. ! The state will not pay the 'wives' expenses. Nor will the . state pay expenses incurred ;. by delegates who arrive early or delay . their - depar ture for'' pre or post-confer fence vacations., , t , Attending the National leg- Illative conference will be ; Senate President Ben Musa ; (D-The Dalles), Sen. Glenn ; Huston (D-Lebanon), Sen. 5 D wight Hopkins (D-Imbler), ! House Speaker Clarence Bar ton (IMJoqullle), Rep. Wll : Ham Holmstrom (D-G e a r hart), W. O. Kelsay (D-Rose- burg), and Rep. W. S. Ouder kirk (R-Newport). I Attending the interstate co i operation commission sea- sions will be Senate Minority -.Leader Anthony Yturri (R 1 0ntario), Sen. Al Flegel (D 'Roseburg), Rep. Ed Whelan (D-Portland), Rep. Berkeley (Lent (D-Portlend), Rep. George Flitcraft (R-Klamath j Falls), and Vern Hill, dif ference for 1965. Next year the conference will be rotat ed to somewhere in the east ern part of the U.S. Also, the total delegation 18 official representatives seems extra large because both the legislative confer ence and the interstate co operation commission are meeting at the same place at the same time. The two groups do not always meet to gether. Nevertheless, S en . M a -honey's participation came as a surprise to many. During the recent legislative session Mahoney was extremely criti cal of interim committees. He said they did little, if any good. Mahoney also screened the travel allowance of every state agency and department as the various budgets came before the senate for approva He refused to approve budg ets which had what he con sidered an unnecessarily large travel allotment. tor of the department of mo- tor vehicles. . ;' Representing the . leglsla . tive counsel committee at the ; sessions will be Sen. I don't think this is a junket because the Portland chamber is pushing so hard to get the convention in 1965. and they need conventions. "But I'm not an idiot. I still question the good of these trips, and I'm paying my own way. I was going to announce that after the trip," he added. Lignite has been found many parts of the world. New Library To Be Ready This Fall Corvallis - A new $2,385, 000 library and 373-bed dor mitory will be ready for open ing of fall term at Oregon State university. The new library will have 1,600 study stations compared to 600 in the present library that was built in 1918 with a wing added in 1941. The old building will be converted into a classroom and office building once the books are removed to the new structure. Open stacks - or free ac cess to all books will Tje featured in the new library. This will give students greater opportunity to browse, seek out and choose reference material on their own, Li brarian William Carlson said. The new residence hall is the seventh built In the last seven years at OSU in an at tempt to keep housing accom modations abreast of increas ing enrollments. 11 will be named for the late Oregon Sen. Charles L. McNary. Two additional dormitor ies of similar design and ca pacity have been started this summer adjacent to McNary hall. They will be ready for opening of school in 1964. With the new residence hall, adequate campus hous ing lor single students ap pears assured for this fall according to Thomas Adams, director of housing. By DICK WEST Washington - (UPC - It oc curred to me the other even ing that "What's My Line?" can t go on forever and that eventu they are go ing to need a r e placement. When that happens, I hope to inter est the net work in a tel- wi . evision game I recently invented called "Who Asked That." As everyone knows, the panelists on "What's My Line" put on blindfolds and try to identify the mystery guest. Well, on "Who Asked That?" the guest will put on a blindfold and try to identify the panelists. Sounds like fun, doesn't it? I got the idea for the show from a magazine column that answers questions sent in by curious readers. Some of the questions are rather bizarre, and hobby,-1 like to see if I can create situations to fit them. For example, a reader who gave her name at Ellen Gershensen wanted to know "If Elisabeth Tay lor has a mink-lined rain coat, or is that just pub licity?" My guess would be that Miss Gershenson is Miss Tay lor's press agent. Using this as a springboard, drew up the format for Who Asked That?" Here's the way the program will op erate: Each week, I, the producer, will go through the column and pick out questions for the mystery panelists to ask on the air. Then the blindfolded guest will try to guess who asked them. Got It? Appearing below are six questions I have already elected. Without peeking, see if you can identify the mystery panelists, who are listed in parentheses at the end. 1. "What actually is Aver ell Harriman's position in the Kennedy administration?" 2. "I would like to know what position Dr. Max Aden auer, son of the West German chancellor, occupies in his fa ther's government?" 3. "Is Grace Kelly expect ing her third child as the ru mors have it?" 4. "How good are the chances of Vice President Lyndon Johnson running for the presidency in 1968? 5. "Who said, 'love is the history of a woman's life but only an episode in a man's?' " 6. "Is Bonlta Granville Wrather, who is listed as asso ciate producer of the Lassie TV series the same Bonita Granville who was a child actress in Hollywood?" (1. Averell Harrison. 2. Konrad Adenauer. 3. Prince Rainier. 4. Lady Bird. 5. John Profumo. 6. Lassie.) Officers Probe Death of Rancher Bend - (UP!) - Sheriff's offi cers from three counties are continuing their search of leads into the death of Philip G. Reinhardt, 72, whose body was found Monday in a canal near here. An autopsy indicated Rein hardt died from a blow on the side of the head. He was a prominent rancher in t h e Powell Butte area. Officers said Reinhardt left his home the night of Aug. 5 and headed across a field. He had $60 on him that was not found. His body was found caught in a wire fence in the canal a week later. Kingston, England - IUPD -A coroner said Wednesday that Mrs. Gertrude Bruce, 70, was killed by an automobile Aug. 6 at the same spot on a road where her husband, Neil Bruce, was killed in an acci dent Dec. 25, 1960.
