Deadline Nears for
Changing Policies
Portland Approxlmntely
1,500 Oregon holders of CI
"RS'1 Insurance policies have
less than two months remain
ing in which to qualify for a
special cash dividend by ex
changing them for "W" term
policies or converting to per
manent insurance, according
to R. J. Novotny, manager of
the Portland Veterans admin
istration regional office.
After Sept. 13, "RS" policy
holders may still convert or
exchange their policies, but
they will no longer be eligi
ble for the dividend payment.
Only GI insurance policy
holders with "RS" insurance
that was issued servicemen of
the Korean Conflict period
are concerned in this pro
gram, Novoty said. On or be
fore Sept. 13, I hey must ex
change the "RS" term policy
for a "W term policy, gen
erally costing about one-third
of what they are now paying,
or convert the "RS" policy to
a low-cost permanent plan of
insurance.
