Plan Under Study The Jackson county court is considering an available timber study proposal made by Charles E. Young and Associ-; atcs, Tacoma, Wash, : "The shifting patterns of timber ownership between Ihe small private holdings of j forest industry and govern-) ment are factors which tend ! to limit maximum possible log production of the Douglas fir region as a whole and particularly in 1 n d 1 vidual counties and county groups," Young wrote the county court. The study would establish how much log production can realistically be supported by the available timber. It would be a county by county survey in the 38 counties of Western Washington and Oregon, he explained. Would Tk m Yes The study would take ap. proximately a year and the total cost would be "upwards of $75,000." Cost to four or five counties participating in the survey as a group wou 1 be $500. Cost of the survey for half of the slate would be about $2,000, Summaries would be pro vided individual counties and county groups. One-fourth of the cost would be payable when the contract is signed and one - quarter payments would be made each three month period with the final payment due when all study material is donated at the end of the study. Reports on changing forest conditions would be made semi-annually after the base study is completed and would be at slightly extra cost or $100 per year. Young said he was econo mist for Weyerhaeuser Tim ber company for 10 years. Police Seek Girl Reported Missing A 14-year-old Medford girl is the object of a search by Medford city police today.
