MALLOY New Delhi -0IPD- A rebirth of friendship between Nation alist China and India cannot be expected in the foreseeable future, at least not on any official level. Unofficial contacts, howev er, are looked on in a much more kindly light, now that both regimes have a common enemy on the Chinese main land. The Indian government has finally accepted the theory -long put forward by top In dian generals - that Formosa helps defend India by pinning down scores of Red Chinese divisions along the south Chi na coast. But government leaders are still convinced that Mao Tse tung is the legal ruler of the mainland. They believe diplo matic channels must be kept NEEDS A DONKEY London -IUPD- A woman ad vertised today in the Times of London for a "gentle don key required to hire for one month; lavish loving care assured." open to his government, if only to keep alive the possi bility of settling their disput ed border claims. Two Chinas Preferred Indian thinking has chang ed in only one important re spect. The government would now prefer to see "two Chi nas," one in Formosa and one on the mainland. Its leaders no longer approve of Red hopes for swallowing Formo sa. Despite this change in view point, the official government line remains the same: "There has been no contact with the Taiwan (Formosa) govern mcnt, nor will there be," in the words of a foreign minis try spokesman. But within the ministry, high officials have actually discussed three possibilities among themselves: -India might invite the Nationalists to open a trade agency or consulate in this country. -The government might ex tend de facto recognition to the Nationalists as the gov ernment of Formosa, while continuing to recognize the Communists as the govern ment of the mainland. TRESPASSERS BEWARE Sycamore Hollow, Kan. -lliPD- Trespassers on this camp ground will be stripped of their clothing, thrown into a swimming pool and forced to play volleyball in the nude with members of the opposite sex. A sunbathcrs association meeting opened here Wednes day. A nudist spokesman said court action would follow the on-the-spot treatment. -The government might maintain undercover contacts through Nationalist diplomats at the United Nations or some other center of diplomatic ac tivity. These possibilities have only been discussed. Accord ing to the best available sourc es, they have not been trans lated into policy. If any of them is adopted, it would al most certainly be the method of informal, unofficial con tacts. Many Indians feel the first two possibilities would he ei ther unacceptable to the Na tionalists, or lead to a com plete rupture with Red China, since both of them are based on the policy of "two Chinas." This is particularly true, be cause even if India went all the way in recognizing the THIEVERY COST New York-dPD-Departmcnt, grocery, variety and discount stores lost some $714 million in 196 1 from pilferage, up 41 per cent from the S505 mil lion in 1951, according to trade association figures. Nationalists, she would still support Red China's admission to the United Nations, and would still recognize Mao as ruler on the mainland. This policy seems wrong headed to most Westerners. Seen Bigger Menace But Nehru and his fellow leaders still believe that Com munist China is a bigger men ace outside of the United Na tions than inside. They also believe that hope for a border settlement with Peking, dim as that hope may be, would be even dimmer if OVER 100 MORE SPECIALS WILSON'S BEEF BIF LUNCH MEAT WILSON'S CORNED DEEP MASH BORKM't tkercJDilt 12 oz. Amusement Ride Floats On Air By GEORGE RHOADES Unittd Press Intarnaional Tulsa, Okla.-WPD - Amuse ment park patrons will soon get a chance to literally rida the wind on a scaled-down version of tomorrow's automobile. Tulsa promoters of the de vice, which floats on a cushion of air two or three inches off the ground, say production will begin this fall. The vehicle, dubbed the Scoot-Air, consists of a bucket seat, a pair of handlebars and two-cycle engines and fans which lift it off the ground d sive it momentum. It will be a modern bump er car, says Al Conn, one f the premeters. "When it's ixetaJked ia amusement parks it will have rubber bumpers id safety ekevices. Conn says the craft operates the serine air-cushion prin ciple that Wading automobile astutacturers are predicting) will be used i cars af the future. "It will move along at sev ens miles per hour and will have te overate on a smooth, ctaed-in aroa," Cn explains. He seys 50 top amusement parks around the country, in cluding Disneyland, have ex pressed interest in the device. It has a fibreglass body, will carry one rider and sounds like a lawnmowcr. Conn, says amusement parte owners told him the vehicle had a number of attractions which should make it a num ber one ride. One is the noise. "We could quiet it down," Conn says. "But Otie owners aVx't want it that way. They say customers' like the noise. It adds to the excitement. "Also, they say the ride is one that isn't toe easy. It pre sents a challenge to the rid er. Scoot-Air, invented by Tul airplane technician Ralph Mong, swivels around like a motorboat according to the way the air tiller is pointed. Extra safety could be added, by aiming It down a V-track. in which air currents would hold it on a guided course, Cone says. He savs the Bark operators would be able te control and end rides by use of grates on the floor. The grates would be oeened when the ride was over and the Scoot-Air ma chine would settle to the floor. 3EIE1GBIIID Large, Meaty Flavorful CARDINAL eryeet and Juicy 17s e Include Pilksr Paper, Imtex, Dictienery, ra;iag Seiks $3.1 Value REG. $1.4 3-PIECE POLY Praduc Prices Vliclivt Thru frl-jy, Au. 4.
