By MILTON RICHMAN
UPI Sports Writer
Okay, all you baseball ex
perts, which player Is pnnci.
pally responsible for the Yan
kees winning this year?
Sorry, but no matter who
you name, you're dead wrong.
And if you Intend to argue
about it, better take your case
to Ralph Houk, who claims
the Yankees are winning ball
games not because of any one
player but only because of
their fine bench.
"I'm convinced beyond the
slightest possible doubt that
we have the best bench In
baseball," Houk says. "With
out it, we would never have
had a chance this year, espec
ially with Injuries to such fel
lows as Mickey Mantle and
Roger Maris.
"Everytime I look up
though, our bench wins
another ball game for us."
Collins Hurls No-Hit

Vern Collins pitched a no
hitter for John Wheeler Log

Kurtz followed with a one

It was Blanchard's turn
Tuesday night. Even though
he had been discharged from
the hospital only a few hours

a sprained left hand and de

Bouton Won 14ih
