(Knackstedt Photo) ' Grange News Central Point Crang The Central Point Grange hall was the scene for the fin al Pomona visitation meeting. recently, when members of the Granges of the county met and the awards and prize money were presentea me winning Granges. Officers of the Lake Creek and Central Point Granges performed- the opening and closing ritual. Guests were Roscoe , Roberts, overseer of the Oregon State Grange: and Ted Sims, deputy of the State Grange. Pomona Master Melvin Lat tie, and the masters of the fol lowing Granges were pre sented: Harold Van Hoy. Live Oak; Cliff Moore, Eagle Point; Ernest Radomske, Sams Val ley; Wayne Marshall, Lake Creek; Lloyd Whiteside, Phoe nix; Edmund Ramsay, Upper Applegate; and Virgil Wilkes, Griffin Creek Grange. . Master James Cornutt pre sided during the business ses sion of the Central Point Grange. A letter of thanks from Conny Varner for the 4-H scholarship she received was read by the secretary. Lattie presented the Po mona Lecturer Victor Crox ton who had arranged the pro gram. ' ' : Lloyd Whiteside of the Phoenix Grange won the prize for the "tall tale" con ducted among Grange mas ters. ' Traveling plaques were pre sented to the five Granges winning this contest. First prize for attendance at the visitations was awarded to Eagle Point Grange; second to Live Oak Grange; third to Phoenix; fourth to Central Point; and fifth to Roxy Ann Grange. Since the National Grange will meet in Portland in No vember plans are being made to give the Pomona and State degrees. Jackson county Grangers were urged to avail them selves of the opportunity to take the seventh degree at the National Grange. Roscoe Roberts, state over seer, expressed his apprecia tion of the interest shown in the visitation program, and stated the average attendance had been 213. Lattie announced the Po mona meeting to be held at Butte Falls Grange on Satur day, July 27. The Central Point HEC club will hold a picnic July 24 at the home of the Walter Ricks on Bcall lane. Dill, 3705 Roberts rd., Med ford, is serving with the Sec ond Battalion of the Third Marine division, a unit which recently participated in a joint U. Morris, 904 Third st Jacksonville, is being reas signed to Stewart Air Force base, N. Y., following gradu ation from the U. S. Wilson, of the same bat tery, both Medford, received second lieutenants' gold bars in a class of SO National Guard cadets graduating from the Oregon Military Academy's Officers Candidate school at Camp Withycombe, Clacka- mas, Saturday. ; The graduation marked the sixth class to complete the;" 250 minimum hour course since the establishment of the; school in 1957.
