A new four-color booklet entitled "Ideas for Better Liv ing" stresses this often over looked aspect of patio cover installation, as well as other outdoor construction. For temperate, , mild cli mates, turquoise, emerald, coral, green oc yellow colors Summer Can Be Fun for Mothers It might be a good Idea to make the weeks during sum mer and vacation months "special" weeks, for mothers and home makers. The idea would be for the wives, mothers, and home makers to gather the family and picnic foods and make their get-aways often, leaving all schedules at home. These col ors have heat transmission values ranging from 37-68 per cent and transmit as high as 64 per cent of the light. For well shaded areas around the home jade and clear colors could be used, as heat would not be a serious problem. These colors trans mit 61-68 per cent of the heat and allow up to 88 per cent of the available light to come through. Northtrn Exposures The company said that as a rule of thumb, jade, clear and green are best for northern exposures, while the "Therm oblok" shades are best for southern exposure. License Plate Game Suggested While Traveling Even the best vacation trip by car ha stretches of dull scenery when the back-seat passengers get bored or rest less. A game played for years by passengers is seeing who can spot the most state license plates or the most unusual plates. Here are some variations on this game, as well as some interesting information on plates: Count to see which truck that you pass carries the most tags. The American Trucking association reports that the most it knows of was 39 on an Arizona moving van. See who can spot the first reflective license plate during a night time journey. Eleven states and the District of Co lumbia now use "safety" plates that reflect light, so you have a good chance to see one soon. They pop out brilliantly at night. 'Collect' Animals Let the passengers try to "collect" all of the animals, people or things shown on plates. For your information, there are four presidents shown on South Dakota plates; a pelican in Louisiana; a heart in Alabama; a flag in Alaska; an outline of the Rockies in Colorado, etc. A variation of this would be a guessing game based on plate mottos. Let one passen ger call out such mottos- as 'The Beef State," "Land of Opportunity," "Water Won derland," and "Sportsmen's Paradise" to see if the other passengers can match the state with the motto. All told, 32 slates use mot tos, pictures or other art on plates. Give a special award to the, passenger who sees A. J. "Stub" Farlow and his horse Deadman. This pair, famous from World War I rodeos, is the horse and rider shown on Wyoming plates since 1936.
