FAIR SYMBOL READIED-Tlie last piece of the steel frame
work of Unisphere, the permanent symbol of the 1964-65
New YorK World s t air, is swung into place ai ine iair a
site in New York City. The 12-story structure is being built
and presented to the Fair by U. S. Steel Corp. The final
piece, representing the Pacific Ocean from 150 degrees west
to 180 degrees (the international date line) and from the
equator to the North Pole, carried the American flag as
the last and highest piece of Unisphere. Construction of
the framework took 110 days. (UPI) ,

West Side Rabbileers
West Side Rabbiteers 4-H
club held its June meeting at
the home of Mrs. Phyllis Cald
well. Janet Lee, Cathy Carl
son and Mary Williams told
about the 4-H summer school
which they attended.
We discussed our campout
and decided that we would
go as a group rather than in
dividual groups. We decided
to go to Lake of the Woods.
Two of the members" mothers
will be In charge. , ;
' We closed the meeting with
a lesson on livestock judging.

The 14th meeting of the
Smart Cookies 4-H club was
called to order recently at
the home of Mrs. W. R. Florey
by club president, Kayrn
Ricks.
. Verna Rempei t led us in
the Pledge of Allegiance and
Emerine led the 4-H pledge.
Shuree Davis and Verna
Rempert did a salad demon
stration.'. It was later served
for refreshments.
The next meeting will be
held at the home of Mrs.
Florey, July 8.

will be a combination swim
ming and picnic get-together '
at Twin Plunges. Each mem
ber is reminded to bring their j

The 4-H prefair will be held :
at 8:30 a.m. July 26 at the
Grange hall in Central Point.
The members are also to bring :

On July 18, there will be ,
a workshop at Mrs. Franck's ,
home for those who need help. ;

opinion on the recent spring
lamb show.
Peggy Martin and Don
Gail gave reports on the sum
mer school and they con.

each had a good time and
learned a lot about 4-H work.
George Martin gave a report
on the feeding of a market
hog, stressing the need for a
balanced diet.
Each member gave a proj
ect report and Mr. Gail said
that it takes about six pounds
of grain for an average hog
to gain one pound of weight.
