Reservations at the lodge by people from the mid-west and Atlantic Coast states are heavier this year than ever before, Peyton said. The 35-mile rim drive around the lake is open. It was closed for a short time Sunday by the snow storm, reported at the higher ele vations, but was reopened in the afternoon. In addition to Crater Lake lodge, three public camp grounds are now open to pro vide overnight accommoda tions to lake visitors. These are Annie Springs, Mazama and Lost Creek. Us of Highways About 40 per cent of the tourists visiting Crater Lake, according to Peyton, drive in on Highway 87 from the north entrance to the park. Another 40 per cent drive Highway 97 from the south and some 20 per cent of the visitors drive along Rogue river on Highway 62 out of Mcdford. All highways arc in good condition, Peyton said. June 15, when the lodge opened for the season, more than 80 per cent of the 102 rooms in the lodge were oc cupied and most of the occu pants were from the middle western and eastern states, the operators empasized. Launch trips around the lnke are a popular feature, Peyton said. In addition to the 25-mile trip around the lake, there are shorter trips to Wizard Island, which are showing increased patron age, he added. The lodge and other facil ities will be open to Sept. 15 Strange As It Seems isie hw w. 6 HIGHEST A AWUNTAIUS iw the UNITED STATES hsi all in Alaska CROSSWORD PUZZLE ACR058 1-Turf -Part of church (pL 11- Boil 12- Wanted 14- Tautooic deity 15- lo el 17-Tissua 1E-Dmih land division 2a-lavishes ftndnesa on S-Recent 23-Sailora 4collo(i.'
