They are Ivan "Killer" Kameroff, Abe Jacobs and Judo Jack Terry Calhoun owns a farm in Arkansas, U married and the father of a small daughter He is said to be surprisingly agile for a big man and has a good knowledge of wrest ling. His specialty Is the "bel ly flop" which he applies with a swan dive onto a fallen op ponent, He is the greatest drawing card on the national wrestling circuit and recently attracted a S60.000 gate in Madison Square Garden in New York, The big fellow has been greet ed by turn-away crowds in every appearance since com' ing to the northwest and Pro moter Elton Owen advises fans to be on hand early to be assured of a good seat. Others In the big battle royal are Soldat Garky, Cata- lina George Drake and Andre Drappe. In the battle royal a man must be thrown, push' ed or rolled over the top rope in order to be eliminated. Regular pins Inside the ring will not count. Owen has scheduled three preliminary matches with Gorky meeting Drappe in the feature match, for two out of three falls or 30 minutes. Other bouts will send Jacobs against Terry and Drake meeting Kameroff, both' for one 'fall or 20 minutes. Reserved seat tickets are on sale at Lamport's Sport ing Goods store in Medford. Hayes, who plays football almost as well as he runs, is a halfback on his school's team and has by-passed a pos sible gridiron career to con centrate on the 1064 Olym pics. The Friday competition saw Brian Sternberg, world rec ord holder in the pole vault, shatter a meet record by clear ing the bar at 16 feet 4 inches, four inches shorter than his world mark. Hayes Jones, the Detroit school teacher, regained his 120-yard high hurdles title by equaling the meet record of 0:13.4. This was his fourth national AAU crown, having won in 1058, 1960 and 1961. Pete McArdle, second last year, won the six-mile run in 28:20.2. The 33-year-old bus me chanic from New York City is the Pan-American games 10,000-meter champion. Dave Davis of the U. Marines dethroned defender Gary Gubner of the Grand Street Boys club, New York in the shot put with a toss of 62 feet S34 inches. Gubner, who gets married Sunday in New York, had to settle for third at 60 feet 5Hi inches while Parry O'Brien, once the kingpin of the event, was run' nerup with 62 feet 1 hi inches. Larry Stuart of the South ern California Striders won the javelin with a throw of 255 fect 3 inches and team mate Ralph Boston made It three in a row in the broad jump with a leap of 26 feet 10 inches. Palmer, Boros Tie Cupit In U.S. Open if h V Sj Br OSCAR FRALEY UPI Sports Writer Brookllne, Mass. -IVPD- Ar nold Palmer and Julius Boros, making a late charge with tournament toughened nerves, collared young Jacky Cupit on the last two holes Satur day for a three-way tie in the U.S. Open Golf championship. The 25-year-old Cupit start ed the final 18-holes at wind swept country club of Brook- line with a one shot lead over Palmer and three strokes on Boros. But nerves steadied by the grind of years of competition made the difference as Bor os, the Open champion in 1052, and Palmer, the winner in 1060, collared him in the final few holes to send it into three-way tie and a playoff Boros . waded through this at 2 p.m edt Sunday.
