The swaggering Cincinnati southpaw reeled off his 13th victory of the season and his seventh in a row Thursday night by beating Philadelphia 11-1 to boost the Reds with in 32 games of the National league lead. O'Toole struck out six bat ters a .id gave up only five hits but developed blisters on his pitching hand after eight innings and gave way to Jim Owens in the ninth. The local aggregation is host to the Tri-City Gems. Game time is billed for 8 p.m. at the fairgrounds ball dia mond. It will be an Area 4 Southern division contest. The Gems roster has play ers from Merrill, Malin and Tule Lake. Its home field is at Merrill. Tri-City comes with a 1-4 standing in the division. The Medford team, which relinquished the league leadership last week end, has a chance this evening to get a share of it back. The Klam ath Falls Falcons head the circuit with 4-1. This evening's battle leads off a slate of nine billed for the week end. Grants Pass opposes the Hawks at Klamath Falls on Saturday evening in the league. Medford will play the Hawks at KF in a Sunday twinbill. The KF Falcons will tackle Mock Ford at Grants Pass in two Sunday games and Ashland will play Tri-City at Merrill. The tilt at Merrill and the first of the double headers at Klamath and Grants Pass will count in the league standings. All these Sunday games are aftornoon ers. Central Point Cheney Studs also play two games on Sun day, meeting Roseburg at While City at 1.30 p.m. This action is non - league but should have plenty of interest. Roseburg is defending state champ. The Studs beat Roseburg twice in a recent doublehcad er at Memorial field and Rose burg downed Central Point In a later nine-inning scrap.
