Tryouts Open
For Comedy
The next play of Footlight
ers, little theater group, is to
be "Goodbye Charlie," and
tryouts will be held Monday
and Tuesday, June 10 and 11.
It has a cast of seven, with
parts for four men and three
women, offering an opportu
nity for varied talents. ,

rector, and the tryouts will
be conducted both evenings at
7:30 o'clock in the Footlight
ers theater at the fairgrounds.
The members encourage all
interested newcomers to par
ticipate in the tryouts.
The play, a light, hilarious
and sophisticated comedy was

is a peppy mixture of cubed
chicken, tomato sauce, chili
powder and garlic salt heat
ed and served in a avocado
half-shells with a topping of
toasted bread crubs. Avoca
dos have been a staple food
in Mexico, Central and north
ern South America for cen
turies. Spanish padres re
portedly planted the first avo
cados in California.
Summer varieties of this
luscious fruit begin reaching
markets before the end of
May. Some of them have
pebbled, almost black skins
and are known as "black avo
cados;" some have green
skins. No matter what the
outside appearance may be,
inside the fruit is the same
the vear-round. a favorite in
gredient in numerous salads,
party dips, sandwich fillings,
main dishes and desserts.
SPANISH
GALLEONS
Three avocados; salt- one
can (8-oz.) tomato sauce; one
cup cubed cooked chicken;
one-half teaspoon chili pow
der; one-fourth teaspoon gar
lic salt; toasted b uttered
bread crumbs.
Cut avocado lengthwise in
Ia halves: remove seeds.
i Snrlnkle with salt. Combine
remaining ingredients except
bread crumbs in saucepan;
heat to boiling.
Fill avocado halves with
hot chicken mixture. Top
with crumbs. Place in shal
low pan containing warm
water to depth of one-half

cilor. Mr. and Mrs. Pierre
