Blough told a n 'wg confer ence Tuesday the industry has been operating in the past few months at a pace that would produce 130 million to 140 million ingot tons annually. He added, however, that "we'll move somewhere be low that total." In 1962, the industry produced 8,300,000 tons. The U.S. Steel chief ex- New Astronauts Will Be Recruited Washlngton-IUPt - The Na tional Aeronautics and Space Administration said Tuesday it will recruit 10 to 15 new astronauts this summer. It in vited applications from quali fied persons, including civil ians. It will be the third group of astronauts since the United States moved into the manned space field. In addition to the original group of seven astro nauts, NASA now is training a group of nine, including two civilians. The requirements virtually eliminate all but professional jet pilots. Candidates must have engineering or physical science degrees, have at least 1,000 hours of time behind the controls of a Jet, or be qualified experimental test pilots. They also must be un der 34 years of age and not more than six feet tall. plained that "if the economy continues to move forward, a labor settlement will not have a material effect on the nor mal pattern." About the possibility of a labor settlement, Blough said it was a "difficult time" to be discussing this but that the "spirit on both sides is good." He said there "seems to be a very serious and real attempt to arrive at a mutually satis factory agreement." Blough said he does not "look for an erosion" of the steel price increases an nounced last April.
