Past Commanders To Meet Saturday The Past Commanders club of the Disabled American Vet erans auxiliary will meet Saturday, June 1, at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Mrs. Hazel Rawles, 34S Apple street. A picnic will be held in ob servance of Fathers day. Secret pals will be revealed. To Move Mrs. George Hubbard, torian; Mrs. Robert Norris, auditor; Mrs. William Bark er, Eugene, parliamentarian. New district directors are Mrs. W. P. Madenwald, Hills boro, O: Mrs. Nels Johnson, Salem, R; Mrs. E. J. Casper sen, Pendleton, G; Mrs. C. E. Waldrop, Bandon, E. Ashland - Mr. and Mrs. David Deller, teachers in tha junior high and Walker ele mentary schools, have bought the property at 275 Scenio drive and expect to mova from their present home on Coleman Creek road, Phoe nix, at the close of school. One of the these princesses will be crowned queen of the annual Boatnilc in Grants Pass Saturday afternoon. June 1, and will rule over the week end festivities. The Prospeci woman has been director of District E, which takes in southern Ore gon. Mrs. Harry J. Pitts, Eugene, the new president, states that her object for the coming year will be to build and strengthen the clubs through larger, more active and more enthusiastic membership and to promote the organization of new auxiliaries. Mrs. Pitts has been an aux iliary member for 14 years; she organized and was char ter president of the Easv Al bany club, has been state treasurer and vice-president and director of District R. The new state president, a former elementary school teacher, is a member of Amer ican Association of Univer sity Women, Alirusa and the Order of Eastern Star. Juice, Clear, Dishwasher Proof Reg. 10c Officers for New District Announced Yreka - Selection of offi cers and appointment of com mittee chairman for the new ly formed garden club dis trict in Siskiyou county mark ed the first official meeting of garden club presidents held recently at the L & B cafe in Yreka. Mrs. Ray Kelly of Yreka was chosen as the dis trict director. The newly formed district, which is to be affiliated with California Garden clubs, Inc., will be known as the "TopO State" district, and approval for its formation was given at the state convention held at Sacramento early in May. The new district will in clude the Shasta Valley Gar den club, Montague; Mount Shasta Garden club and Fort Jones club, all of which were Jeters Return Ashland - Mr. and Mrs. R. E. Jeter, 473 South Mountain avenue, returned last week from a month's trip which in cluded two weeks in Hawaii with a niece, celebration of their golden anniversary in the islands and witnessing the official reception given Astro naut Gordon Cooper on his arrival. They afterward visit ed with their sons and daugh ters in Seattle. a part of the Cascade district, California Garden Clubs, Inc. and the Yreka Garden clubs, evening and afternoon sec tions, which were affiliated with Oregon. The Weed Gar den club will also be a part of the new county district, after official vote of the club itself has been taken. The new district will hold three district meetings a year. Officers Named Other district officials named at the Friday after noon meeting were, Mrs. Hen rietta Terwilliger assistant district director; Mrs. Edward Clement, current president of the Shasta Valley Garden club, recording secretary; Mrs. James Sullivan, presi dent of Yreka Garden clubs, corresponding secretary; and Mrs. Robert E. Banning, pres ident of the newly formed Fort Jones Garden club, treas urer. Mrs. Terwilliger is a past president of the Shasta Valley club, and a past dis trict treasurer of Cascade dis trict. Mrs. Clement announced that the Shasta Valley Gar den club will hold its June 7 meeting in the club room of the Montague Auditorium, at 2 p.m. instead of in the Gar den hall of the old Montague school as previously announ ced. She stated that district officers will be in attendance at this meeting. Scout Leaders Are Honored Ashland - Adult leaders of Girl Scouts in Ashland, Tal ent and Phoenix were honor ed recently at a luncheon giv en in the Mark Antony hotel. Spring flower arrange ments by Mrs. Harry Hawk decorated the tables and guest favors were tiny um brellas made by Mrs. E. G. Tischhauser's third grade troop. Mrs. Hoy Nidever, district chairman, presided over the recognition program present ing a 10-year guard pin to Mrs. Del Bohn, and five-year guards to Mrs. Larry Reed and Mrs. M. D. McGeary. Special recognition was also given to Mrs. Jerry Gasti neau for 11 years service; to Mrs. Ken Bartlett and Mrs. Georgia Smith for nine years; to Mrs. C. E. Wood for eight years, and to Mrs. Howard Wiley for six years.
