MEDFORD MAIL TRIBUNE, MEDFORD. OREGON FRIDAY. MAY 24. 1963 Subdivision Regulation Part Of House Measure Salem -OIP0 Land subdivi sion would be regulated in an effort to keep the public from being "bilked and taken" un der a bill which has passed the House and been sent to the Senate. Supporters said a few land promoters have been "giving Oregon a bad name" through fraudulent land advertising and sales. The bill, worked over sev eral times, would require land developers to file their plans with the real estate commis sioner, who would make re ports available to buyers. Bond Required It would set out regulations both for land advertising and for actual sales, and would require a performance bond from the developer to ensure completion of promised im provements. The House also: -Passed and sent to the Sen ate a bill to broaden Oregon's program of medical assistance to the aged, a program partly supported by federal Kerr Mills grants. The bill would ease eligibility requirements. The program involves $3 8 million in state general fund money for 1963-65. -Approved creation of a dis trict court at Grants Pass. The bill went to the Senate. -Passed and sent to the Sen ate a bill authorizing the wel fare commission to expand food stamp and surplus food programs. -Passed budgets for the De partment of Motor Vehicles, the State Labor-Management Relations board, the State Scholarship commission, the secretary of state, the corpor ation department, Hillcrest school, MacLaren school, the Correctional Institution, and the penitentiary. -Passed a bill raising salary ranges of most non-civil serv ice state employees such as administrators and commis sioners. It also raises pay for state police. It went to the Senate. -Passed a truth-in-lending bill aimed at making it easier for consumers to understand credit changes. It went back to the Senate in an effort to resolve House changes. Don't "simmer" this summer! Rockefeller New York-IUPD-The Duchess of Windsor, whose romance nearly toppled the British throne, said Thursday that Gov. Nelson A. Rockefeller was "right" in marrying di vorcee Mrs. Margaretla "Hap py" Murphy. "I think they're very much In love and it's right for them to get married," said the duch ess, an American divorcee for the love of whom King Ed ward VIII abdicated in 1936 and became the Duke of Windsor. The duke, 68, and duchess, 66, arrived here today aboard the luxury liner United States for their annual visit to the duchess' homeland. The duke also seemed pleased about Rockefeller's marriage and said he hoped "they'll be very happy as we are." The Windsors are expected to meet the Rockefellers on a charity cruise ball aboard the liner Rotterdam June 5. The Windsors will stay in their apartment at the Waldorf-Astoria Towers for sev eral weeks. The duchess said she will visit her ailing aunt, Mrs. Buchanan Merryman, 98, in Washington as soon as pos sible. "Aunt Bessie" was ehaperone of the Windsors in their courtship days.
