A SUNDAY, MAY It, 1983 MEDFOHD MAIL TRIBUNE, MEDFORD, OREGON Financial Health Of County People Reported Better The flrancia health of the average J.ckson county resi dent is better than it has been or some time. Evidence of this is seen in the amount of money he has accumulated in bank accounts in the past two years, in the increase in his savings In gen eral and in the control he has maintained over his outstand ing debt. This buildup of savings has created an unprecedented pool of spending power that has favorable portents for the Jackson county population as a whole and for local business in particular. Details concerning the in crease in individual savings in the local area and elsewhere in the country during the two year period are contained in figures released by the Fed eral Reserve System and by other agencies. As might be expected, the reports show that the amount a family sets aside as savings is directly related to its in come. Among families with dis posable incomes of $2,900, the ability, to save is small. They put away about 2.0 per cent for the purpose.
