The tournament will be held at Glendovcr
.club in Portland. Medford's linksmen are
to leave today for the tourney site. The
Tornado won the 16-tcam upstate meet last
week end, the district last Monday and is
unbeaten this season in some 10 other two,
three and four-way matches. With their
success they are one of the favorites in
the state meet. The four compiled an
amazing 299 district score on a 74 by Clark
and 75s by the others. Miller is a senior,
Clark and Knight juniors and Olson a sophomore.

32 in the 12-school meet.
St. Mary's and Myrtle
Creek each took three firsts
and Phoenix, Glendale and
Eagle Point each one as six
district records were excelled.
Three double champions
were crowned. Don Sayler of
Rogue River won the high
hurdles in a record 14.7 and
the pole vault at 12 feet 6
inches. Jack Salter of t h e
Chiefs was victor in the mile
with a record 4:27.1 and in
the half-mile with 2:02. Ross
Barkhurst. Myrtle Creek, set
a new time of 9.85 in the cen
tury sprint and won the discus.

Javelin throw by Jim Cal
houn, St. Mary's, a 20.5 low
hurdles run by Sam Charters,
Eagle Point, and a six-foot
high jump by Ron Salmon,
Myrtle Creek.

The win left Oregon with
an 8-3 record in second place
in the division behind the de
f e n d ing champion Beavers,
who now have a 6-2 mark.
The Ducks collected their
victory on a two-run, bases
loaded single by Jeff Allen
in the eighth inning. Arba

eight hits.
Oregon State suffered its

Three of the records fell
to Medfordiles and three to
GP thinclads. Brumback ran
a 4:25.5 mile for the Tornado
to shatter a mark which had j
been in the book since 1947. j
Mike Deibclc, who won the j
220-yard dash for Medford,
ran a 21.8 prelim to smash a
standard which had stood
since 1034. The other Medford
record setter was Toews with
a 1:57.7 half-mile. I
Bob Shepard, Grants Pass, I
set a new high of 6-3 'i in the
high jump and he teamed i
with Brad Lewis, Fred Perry
and Rich Ireland for a 1:29.9
new best in the half-mile re
lay. The other standard fell
to Walt Smith, Klamath Falls,
with 220-1 Vi in the javelin.
Four men actually bettered
Toews' year-old half-mile
mark of 2:00.3. Snodgrpss
was clocked in 1:58.9; Brum
back in 1:59.1, and Don Piper,
Klamath Falls in 1:59.8. Tom
Snarlin had a second place
pole vault rf 13 feet which :
also beat the old mark of
12-1U4.
Grants Pass captured seven
firsts and gained 13 state
meet spots. Medford has 11
berths In state. Crater, along
with Paul Bransom's 2I-6V2
broad jump first, grabbed five
state meet spots. is-iamam

ard. with a 19.7 triumph in

the high jump, and Deibele
with a 9.9 century along with
the furlong win. Shepard also
