Jack Nail. Mr. Naff has been the min ister of the First Chrltslan church In Madras since 1957, During that time he has serv ed in many civic organlza- tions. He is presently the vice president of Kiwanii club and served one term as mayor of Madras. Mr. Naff will speak on the subject "The Church Without Walls" at the 10:55 a.m. service. The scripture text is Matthew 16:18. "There Is a Balm in Gllead" will be the anthem sung by the caril lon' choir, and the chancel choir will sing Robertson's "The Lord's Prayer." Mrs, Harold Ottosen and Mrs, Price Shatter will host the coffee hour following the sec ond1 service. At the 8:30 a.m. service RalDh A. Oakdale Ave. Phone 772-6902 Everyone Welcome Dedication Set For St. Martin's Episcopal Church Shady Cove-The Rt. Rev. J. W. Carman will officiate at the dedication ceremony of St. Martin's Episcopal church. Shady Cove, Thursday, May 23. The event wiii be held at 8 p.m. and is open to all in terested persons. Services have been held In the recently completed church, valued at $35,000, for the past several weeks. Land for the church was purchased in 1958 and after architect plans were drawn up, the services were held in the basement of the proposed church. Through the use ot volunteer labor the church was finally completed. Vicars who have served the church since its construction started have been the Rev. Bruch McHenry, the Rev. John Smith Power, and the Rev. Stanley Welsh, present vicar. Officiating at the first serv ice held in the church on March 31 were Mr. Welsh and Mr. Power. Mr. Power is now at St. Peter's church in Al bany. , The church includes an altar made of white oak with a Celtic cross of local dog wood. The new communion rail was made by a member of St. Martin's. Rogafe Sunday Topic Announced The sermon by the Rev. H. C. Coovert for Rogate Sunday at Zion Lutheran church, Fourth st. and Oakdale ave., will be "Faith Is Fulfilled in Doing." The order for Installation of officers and ' committee chairmen of the Lutheran Church women for the com ing year will be conducted during the worship service. Music will be provided by the choirs. The Junior choir will sing "Who Is This Lad?" and the senior choir offertory will be "Sanctus." The Senior Luther League members will leave from the church Sunday at 1:30 "p.m. for an outing and picnic In the Siskiyous. Conference Retreat Set by Church The Young Adult Fellow ship of the Free Methodist church have planned a con ference-wide retreat May 17 and 18 at Canby. Dr. Donald Demaray, dean of the School of Religion at Seattle Pacific college will be the speaker. He is the author ot several books and a grad uate of the University of Edin burgh. The theme for the re treat is "The Work of the Holy Spirit." The local pastor, the Rev. Roland Stewart, is currently serving as the conference di rector of the Young Adult Fellowship. The Sunday school under the direction of LeRoy Cal kins will continue the empha sis on the Christian Home during the month of May. In the morning worship service the youth chorus will sing "More Than Conquerors" accompanied by Mrs. Gordon Stiles at the organ. The pas- tor will present a message on the subject "Eternal Life. Mr. Getchell has served tor the last three years as a missionary with the Pro testant Episcopal church in Brazil, working at Sao Paulo and at Toledo in the state of Parana. His message will be entitled "The New Day in Missions." Mr. Getchell grew up in Medford and attended ; Stan ford university and the Church Divinity school in Berkeley, Calif. The 1957 Award of Merit Winner Ill School of Religion Graduation Held "Go forth with love and perseverence into the world which so needs the boon of Christ's love" was the admo nition of the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Edmund J. Murnane, LL.D., of Eugene, to the graduates of St. Mary's Public High school of Religion Tuesday night. CHURCH NEWS National Religious Publicity Council of the Confraternity of Chrls- 1 1 a n Doctrine - sponsored school of religion for Catholic students who attend public high schools: The 16 gradu ates have attended religion classes regularly every Sun day evening throughout the school year. Diplomas Presented Diplomas were presented by the Very Rev. Carl Mai, assisted by the Rev. John Ilg, supervisor of the school, to 16 persons. Special school of religion awards for scholar ship were given to Michael Whinihan, senior; Teresa Mata, junior; Sandy Bayliss, 3ophomore; and Susan Wake field and Mark Bayliss, fresh men. Attendance awards were received by seven students. Master of ceremonies for the exercises, which were held in the all-purpose room of St. Mary's High school was Robert Howard, chairman of teachers for the Sunday night classes. Marian Choir Sings Several selections were sung by the Marian choir of the parochial school, directed by Sister Miriam Joseph and accompanied by Miss Ingrid Bergstrom. Har old M. Sanner, has announced that the Sunday messages at 11 a.m. will be on some phase with regard to the day of Pen tecost, June 2. His subject for Sunday will be "The Spirit of Fire." Andrews, pastor. This will conclude a series of messages on the na tural man. The chapel choir will sing and Mrs. Albert Gandt will be soloist for the service. Sunday at 7 p.m. Mr. An drews will give the first of four messages from the book of Romans. It will be, "What Happens to the Man in Eter ity Who Never Heard the Gospel?" The men of the church are currently engaged in repair and maintenance work at the Union-Rogue Baptist camp near Prospect. Roundtable Topic To Be On Missions This week end the Minis ter's Roundtable will discuss foreign missions. - It is viewed over station KMED-TV, Channel 10, at 11 a.m. Saturday and at 8:05 a.m. on KMED radio. The Rev. Wendell Wagler, associate pastor at First Chris tian church, will serve, as moderator. Joining him on the program will be Dr. Margaret Wallace, the Rev. Harold San ner, and Dr. George Rose berry. Dr. Wallace is a retired mis sionary from India, who now makes her home at Rogue Valley Manor in Medford. Mr, Sanner is the pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene and he has recently returned to Medford following a visit to a mission field of his de nomination. Dr. Roseberry is pastor of First Methodist church and formerly was a district superintendent where part of his responsibility was to promote the mission pro gram of the Methodist church, The program will focus around the following ques tions: "How have current world conditions affected Christian foreign missions?" "Have concepts of missions changed?" "What are the prospects for the future of the missionary movement." Revival Scheduled At Ashland Church Ashland - Evangelist Allen Rollins will conduct revival and evangelistic meetings at The Hillside church (Christian and Missionary Alliance), 748 Siskiyou blvd.
