T, VESTAL Word was received here last week of the death of Mrs. William T, Vestal, 72. ta San ta Rosa, Calif. The former Maude Cault, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Gault of Med ford, Mrs. Vestal is survived by four brothers, Charles, C. C, and Howard Gault, of Mci ford; and Henry Cault of Roscburg. Funeral services will be held in Santa Rosa following the arrival there of the Hen ry Gaults. MYRON E. The opening number of each band was a march written by Mey ers. Three soloists during the evening were Miss Beth Kroon on the piano, Miss An. dree Roberta on the oboe and 1 Danny Hill on the trumpet, . A special baton of rosewood and silver was presented the music instructor by Miss Shei-1 la Beasley, of the junior high band. A color television set was presented by students, former students and fellow teachers. Theme of the presentation was "This Is Your Life-Harry Meyers." Former District Su perintendent H. P. Jewett pre sented the script written by Mrs. Scott Hamilton. It cov ered Meyers' life from the be ginning of his musical studies at the Hague Conservatory of Music tn Holland, where he was born and raised, to when he began his teaching career in ' Central Point. Musical background was presented by Mrs. Norman Carothers and Jim Evernden on his trumpet, Supt. C. A. Meyer was master of ceremonies. Singing of the "Oregon Waltz" written by Meyers and a winner In the Oregon Cen tennial song competition con cluded the program. Mrs. Wil lie Fischer was accompanied by Miss Elaine Young. Mrs. Fischer, the former Mary Jane Matthews, sang the lead in "Kathy," an operetta In Dutch setting, written and presented by Meyers in 1947 at the old Central Point High school. Festivities tor "Harry Mey ers Day" in Central Point began with issuing a procla mation by Mayor William Saxbury. A committee headed by Mrs. C. W. Anhorn and assisted by H. P. Jewett, C. A. Meyer, George Johns, John McCoy, Mrs. Dale Bartley, Mrs. Richard Korner, Mrs. M. B. Caster, Mrs. Don Pat terson and Mrs. Donald A. Faber made plans and sent letters several months ago to all students and teachers he hag- known, A memory book of pictures and notes from students is being completed for the music instructor. Meyers, with his wife, Mar tha, and daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. John M. Lynch, Candace and John, greeted i alt guests at the cafetorium I reception. I Fire Meetinj - The Talent city fire department will hold an open meeting Monday at 7:30 p,m. at the Talent city hall. The public, and especial ly volunteer firemen, are in vited to attend. Chaplain John Frazee will officiate. Interment will be in the VA cemetery at Eagle Point. Perl Funeral home is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Prcvost was born April 21, 1900, at Cambridge, Neb. For most of his life, he was occupied as a recreational worker. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the United States Army. On Nov. 17, 194J, he entered serv ice at Monterey, Calif., and was discharged at Werner Bobbins, Ga , April 10, 1S43. He has been a resident of the VA Domiciliary at White City since April 12. 1983. He is survived by on broth er, Harry Prevost, Oakland, Calif. Mall Theft - Sheriff's dep uties Saturday were investi gating theft of mail from the mall box of Mary Opal Pey ton, 2634 Biddle rd., Medford. Burglary - State police Sat urday were investigating the burglary of the Harold Wain scott residence, 3344 Military rd., some time Friday night. A portable television set 'was stolen. Arrested - Medford police Saturday arrested Evelyn Pauline Cowden, route 1, box 260, Eagle Point, on charges of shop-lifting and lodged her in the county jail. She was apprehended in the Big Y ap pliance store. Ceremonies Set at Rogue River School Rogue River - The Rev, Charles Fuller will give the sermon for the Rogue River high school baccalaureate in the high school gymnasium at 8 o'clock tonight. The doxology and invoca tion will be presented by the Rev. H. Holsinger. This will be followed by the hymn, "Holy, Holy, Holy." The scripture reading will also be given by Reverend Holsinger. The vocal duet will be pre sented by Glenda Wood and Mike McDaniels with Shar ron Smith as accompanist. Reverend Holsinger will close with the invocation fol lowed by the recessional of all members of the graduat ing class. AUCE M. TAYLOR Funeral services for Mrs. Alice M. Taylor, 65, of 5925 Harris rd.. Central Point, who died Friday, will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday ta the Chapel in the Trees mortuary in Siskiyou Memorial park. John Heberling, minister of the Central Church of Christ will officiate. Private crema tion services will follow in Siskiyou Memorial Cremato rium. Mrs. Taylor was born Sept. 13, 1897, in Medford, the daughter of the late James and Alice Gaines. She was a pioneer resident of the val ley, and resided here all of her life. In Stevenson, Wash., ahe was married to Wendell L, (Bill) Taylor, who survives. Mrs, Taylor was a member of the Central Church of Christ of Medford. Survivors, besides her hus band. Include three daugh ters, Mrs. H. A, judd, Hunta ville. Ala.; Mrs. Darrell Pat ty, Central Point, and Mrs. D. A. Olgin, Long Beach, Calif.; one sister, Mrs. Maude Ottoman. Medford; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a nephew, and a niece. It is a request of the fam ily that a donation be mde to the American Cancer so ciety, Medford, Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Siskiyou Funeral Service directors of Chapel in the Trees mortuary. LILY DUGAN Funeral services for Mrs, Lily Dugan, who died Thurs day, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in Conger -Morris downtown chapel. The Rev Fredrick Ross Evans of the First Christian church will of ficiate. Committal will be in Siskiyou Memorial park. Mrs. Dugan was born July 28, 1886, in Colby, Kan., and had lived in southern Oregon since 1MB. She was married Dec. 11, 1917, in Los Angeles, Calif., to William A. Dugan, who preceded her m death in 1956. She was a member ot the First Christian church. Survivors include a son, A 9 Kenneth Dugan, Vallejo, Calif.; a daughter, Mrs, Her bert J. Osborne, Medford; a sister, Mrs. V. A. CwJfield, Topeka, Kan.: two brothers, John P. Bayha, San Bernar dino. Calif,; and Louis P, Bayha Georgia; and five grandchildren, and a cousin, Mrs. Gerhard G.
