Final count was 5 to 3 in a fracas highlighted by ' Dick Deffley's two-run homer for the Whirlwind. Each team cracked out seven hits. Mcdford put four of its to work and Grants Pass three In the scoring. The Tornado tallied twice during its first turn at bat on two errors, a base on balls, a passed ball, a groundout and Tornado J V Wins Two From GP While (lie varsity was post ing victories over Grants Pass here Tuesday and yesterday, the Medford high junior var sity baseball aggregation was pounding out lopsided ver diets over its Caveman coun terpart at Grants Pass. The Junior Tornado was winner by 13 to 3 on Tuesday and yesterday clobbered its Climate city foe 19 to 5. On Tuesday Medford had a six run first frame with the aid of two hits, three walks, an error . and three fielder's options. - In the sev enth panel the Tornadoes ac quired five runs on six safe blows. Jack Mullen had three hits in the game for Mcdford and Dick Brecden and Larry Godlcy each two. Then Deffley gave the Tor nadoes breathing space on his roundtrip swat up against the tennis courts after Dan Miles had walked. The Cavemen bid to close the difference in the seventh stanza. Miller doubled Forde chalked up the pitch ing victory for Medford. He yielded six hits and all of the Cavemen runs, while walkini: three and whiffing the same number. Enyart gave up a hit and struck out one. Thompson was charged with all the Mcdford Tuns and hits. He registered two strikeouts and two bases on balls. Reliev er Steve Newman, fanned two and walked one. ' Roseburg has canceled its game scheduled Friday with Mcdford in order to make up rained out action in the Mid western league.
