SPRUCE Here From MaasaehuseHa Nazarenes to Hear Guest Speaker at Sunday Services The Rev. Fletcher Spruce of Melrose, Mass., will be the speaker Sunday in both the 1 1 a.m. and 7 p.m. services of the First Church of the Naze- rene, SZ0 North Holly st. He will fUl the pulpit in the ab sence of the pastor, the Rov. Harold M. Sanner, who Is presently In Trinidad, West Indies, as speaker for a youth camp. He will return to Med ford Thursday. Mr. Spruce is the superin tendent of the New England District of the Church of the Nazarene and has served in this capacity since 1981. Prior to this he has had pastorates in Canton, Ohio; Texarkana, Tex., and Kansas City, Mo. He is the author of four books and has written articles. Music for the 11 a.m. serv ice, as announced by Perry Christiansen, minister of music, will be provided by the sanctuary choir and a duet by Mel Johnson and Dean von Stein. During the 7 p.m. serv ice music will include a tenor solo by Jack Delmonte, a clar inet solo by Judy Arnold, and a ladies trio by Mrs. Rex Roble, Mrs. Richard Horton, and Mrs. Jerry Anderson The Junior High activity to night will be a progressive dinner sponsored bv Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Weatherford. The young people will meet at the church at 6 p.m. Zion Lutheran Lists Activities "Fear Dispels Opportunity' will be the title of the ser mbn brought by the Rev Harvey C. Coovcrt to Zion Lutheran church, Fourth st. and Oakdale ave., Sunday at II a.m. The anthem "Praise Ye The Lord," will he sung by the choir. "When we are conscious of the infinitude of mind, and its spiritual ideas, there is nothing to fear," Ziegenhagen declared. Commenting on the lack, injustice, sin, disease, and threat of war that confront mankind today, the lecturer said that these are accompan ied by a sense of tear which truth alone can destroy. He defined ,fear in terms of lack of understanding of God's illness, noting that fear Is generally connected with the possibility of loss. "Merely to be told to forget about fear is not enough," he declared. "We must rise above it by realising the base lessness of anything opposed to God. who is divine love."
