Mrs. Beveridge was vis iting her daughter. Mrs. Joe McCalvy. of Central Point. Mrs. Beveridge was born Sept. 25. 1895. in Hibcrnia, New Brunswick, and was married Sept. 25. 1919, in St. John, to Clarence K. Bever idge, who survives. Other survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Gerald ine McCalvy, Central Point; and Mrs. Barbara Wasson and Mrs. Alva Lester, both of St. John, New Brunswick; and six grandchildren. Entries, Thefts Reported to Police Employees at Lamport's Sporting Goods, 226 East Main st., reported to Medford city police about 8:25 o'clock today that someone had broken a display window in the front of the store last night and stolen two .22 cal ibre revolvers. Police are also investigat ing an attempted break and entry into a vending machine at the Eastside Coin Laundry, Hawthorne and East Main sts., sometime last night. Wayne Charles Archer, 1211 Saling St., reported to police that someone had stolen a variety of bowling equipment from his car some time between 9 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday. Archer valued the equipment at about $105. In the Willamette valley, Skippen emphasized in his re p o r t. entitled "School En rollment Trends in Oregon," the pattern was more pro nounced since the area con tains both rural districts and the largest metropolitan con centration in the state. The large- cities and their subur ban areas continued to grow, while the small towns and rural areas continued to show decreases in school population. Skippcn's report is based on more than 55 per cent of Oregon s school districts. which enroll 90 per cent of all school children in the state. All counties were rep resented in the study. Resuscitator Fails To Revive Man Illinois Valley-The Illinois Valley Volunteer Fire depart ment's recently purchased resuscitator was pressed into service Sunday morning in an effort to revive William Cross, 67, of Sclma. After half an hour of work with the resuscitator, how ever, a local physician was called, who pronounced the man dead. Cross, of Lakcshore rd.. was a long time resident of Sclma. Yreka Area 4-H'ers Attend Conference Yreka Two 4-H members. Sandra Farley, Ft. Jones, and David Sleep, Yreka, attended a four-day all-star conference at the University of Califor nia at Berkeley recently. Sleep and Miss Farley and 4-H members from other countries witnessed a series of presentations emphasizing a wide range of concerns for young people, including such things as citizenship, careers and financial programs for young people. On the program were vari ous leaders in education, bus iness and agricultural. A tour, and a dance plus an evening in San Francisco rounded out the program. Expenses for the trip were paid by the Yreka Business and Professional Women's club and the Yreka Lions. Ski Lodge Plans Due for Meeting Ashland-Robert Bosworth, Medford architect, will have sketches and plans on dis play April 16 when directors of the Mt. Ashland Ski Corp. meet in the Mark Antony ho tel. Lloyd Selby. president of the board, announced that the meeting will be open to all interested persons. The lodge will be built in two stages. The first unit will have facilities for cafe, rest rooms, ski rental shop, first aid, and living quarters for the manager. Later a large dining room, cocktail bar and hotel accommodations will be added. The lodge is to be a Swedish - Swiss chalet type. Lease rights were recent ly awarded the ski corpora tion and plans for immediate construction of the lodge and ski lift were begun with com pletion date set for next winter. Ashland Mailman Receives Citation Santa Monica, Calif - IUPD -Ricky Nelson, the singer, took out a marriage license Friday to marry Kristin Har mon, 18, daughter of sports caster Tom Harmon. Ashland-A citation for su perior accomplishment has been awarded to Laurence F. Rude, city carrier for the Ash land post office. The certificate was present ed by Postmaster Parker Hess who said that so far as he knew such an award had never been given an Ashland man. Accompanying the cita tion was $100 and a lapel em blem. Hess described Rude's serv ice as outstanding and com mented that "he has perform ed his work over and above normal requirements or job expectancy, and his perform ance standards based on other factors of consideration have been well above average."
