It was stated that the law automatically gives the gov ernment the right to manage or dispose of surface resources on unpatented mining claims located after July 23, 1955. but docs not affect the rights of mining claimants to pros pect and mine their claims. Verified statements should only be filed if the claims were located before the 1955 act, and If the claimant as serts rights to surface re sources. Guest Lecturers at Institute Named Eugene Two prominent music directors from England and Canada will be guest lec turers at the University of Oregon's second summer in stitute of International Music Education. Peter Maxwell Davics, di rector of music at Cirencester School in England and cur rently a Harkness Fellow at Princeton university, will lec ture at two workshops from July 8 to 19. The July 22-Aug. 1 work shop will have as guest lec turer Stanley Saunders. He Is a member of the music facul ty of Mount Allison univer sity. New Brunswick; conduc tor of the Amherst Concert Band, Nova Scotia; and musi cal director of the Eighth Canadian Hussars Regiment. The workshops offer the possibility of nine quarter hours of work In four con centrated weeks. other room In the house re ceives as much use.
