Officers Renamed For Rogue Basin Water Association Ben Hilton, Grants Pass, was reelected chairman of the Rogue Basin Flood Control and Water Resources associa tion MondbV night. Other officers also were re elected. They are William (Bill) Jess, BBgle Point ranch er, vice chairman, and Wally Martin, Grants P;iss attorney, secretary-treasurer. Progress in support of the Rogue Basin project on the state and national level was reported at the meeting. The wheels have been set in motion for the request to the bureau of the budget for S50,0u0 planning money for fiscal year 1963, Directors George Fields and Jack Hanel stated, reporting on a recent trip to Washington, D. C. Letters of Endorsement Letters of endorsement for the Basin project from J. W. Penfold, conservation director of the lzaak Walton League of America, and from Thomas L. Mm ball, executive director, and Lewis S. Clapper, conser vation and education director of the National Wildlife Fed eration, were introduced. The letters lauded the Basin Proj ect for Its conservation fea tures and were addressed to the bureau of the budget. Directors also reported suc cess in obtaining a memorial from the House and Senate of Oregon. The memorial ex pressed the needs and merits of the multi-purpose dam proj ect and was addressed to Con gress. The memorial passed both Oregon houses by unani mous vote, the directors noted. "It is hoped this will assist in the association's efforts to obtain immediate planning money and construction funds for the project,'' members stated. Depletion of funds allocat ed by the counties to the as sociation was reported with concern by the directors, who pointed out that commitments for the remainder of the fiscal year total $1,635. Jess announced that the di rectors would seek an emer gency allocation from the counties to meet liabilities for this year. MEDFORD, Mrs. Conner, the daughter of Joseph and Amanda Hoover, was born Oct. 14, 1880, in Reading, Penn. She moved to the Rogue valley from California 37 years ago and made her no me near Cold Hill until 1955. Because of illness, she has been confined to a nursing home since that time. She was married to Stilman H. Conner, who preceded her in death in 1932. Survivors include one son. William S. Conner, Medford; two daughters, Beatrice L. Conner, Oakland, Calif., Dor othy F.
