Drs. Laurel G. Case, M. Donald McGeary, June Bycrs and Thomas Upton will ex plain the planned program of activity for April, when stu dents at Medford High school, Phoenix High school, and Cra ter High school will be per sonally contacted by members of the Jackson County Medi cal Society in a pilot program of recruitment. Plans for enlarging on the program to include other schools in the future also will be explained. According to the U.S. pub lic health service and medical authorities throughout the country, the need for more physicians is becoming an in creasingly serious problem, with the situation being acute in some parts of the country. It is estimated that the number of graduating physi cians must be increased from the present 7,000 to 10,000 an nually until 1975 just to main tain the present physician population ratio. Chester Irish, president of the Jackson County Tubercu losis and Health association, which sponsors "Adventures in Medicine," said high school students and their parents throughout the area are urged to see the program today, to learn more about the oppor tunities for students who might be interested in a medi cal career. , DEDUCTION ELIMINATED Salem - OIPD - The House Tax Committee has agreed that its jncome tax bill would eliminate the deduc tion of federal income taxes in computing state income taxes.
