Anniversary Plans Being Formulated The Rev. G. O. Skaar, pas tor of First Southern Baptist church, has returned from a speaking engagement at Coos Bay and will conduct both services at the church here Sunday. At the 11:45 a.m. worship hour Mr. Skaar will have for his sermon topic "The Power of the Gospel." The adult choir will sing, with Dennis Sampels directing. For the evening service the topic will be "The Simple Gospel." The Youth choir will sing. Plans are being formulated for the fifteenth anniversary of the church and homecom ing will be held at the church. 794 Lozier lane April 21. All former pastors and members will be invited to attend. Edon Sandin, pastor. Friends Churches To Hear Official Dean Gregory, Newberg. general superintendent of Friends churches in the North west, will visit southern Ore gon this week end. Mr. Greg ory will address the Ashland Friends congregation at the 9:45 a.m. Sunday school hour Sunday and preach at the 11 a.m. worship hour at Talent Friends church. He will speak to the high school Christian Endeavor group at 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Medford Friends church and visit the 7:30 p.m. service. The pastor of Medford Friends church, J. L. Willcuts, will give the fourth in a series of pre-Easter sermons based on Christ's Sermon on the Mount, Sunday at 11 a.m., ti tled "The Meek Shall Inherit the Earth." His Sunday eve ning message will be, "The Way of the Cross." Pre-Easter music will be presented by the choir of Med ford Friends at the morning worship hour, directed by Mrs. Claude Lewis, with -organist, Mrs. Orrin Ogier and pianist, Mrs. Theron Gorden. The choir will sing, "Three Crosses" and "Father, Forgive Them." Conference Planned At EP Community Eagle Point A missionary conference will be held at the Eagle Point Community Bible church Sunday through Tues day. The Rev. John S. Sawin, missionary to Viet Nam, will speak Sunday and Tuesday and Mrs. Harry O. Watkins, missionary in Africa, will speak Monday. The services will be held at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Sawin, who recently returned from Saigon, served there under the Christian and Missionary Aliance Foreign board. Mrs. Watkins has served in West Africa with her husband for 39. years. They have worked as a team in writing a grammar book and translating the scriptures into the Fula language for the Mohammendan Fula tribe. LaVerne College Choir Concert Set The choir of La Verne col lege, La Verne, Calif., will present a concert Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Brethren, 345 North Mary st. Due to the concert sched uled, the morning worship service will begin one -half hour earlier, according to the Rev. William Wash, minister. This is the 22nd tour season for the choir which is heard on both Pacific coast and na tional radio network pro grams. Sunday at 7 p.m. the Rev. Lewis Collins will speak for a rededication and recommit ment service for youth. Par ents of the youths and all members and friends are in vited to attend. Tonight at 6:30 o'clock the youths will meet at the church from where they will leave for a progressive dinner. These students were part of a group of 35 SOC stu dents who recently attended a retreat for college students at Arrowhead Springs, San Bernardino, Calif. The retreat was sponsored by Campus Crusade.
