have met in doubleheaders
with second games non-count
ing five-frame affairs. - This
year the second games will

7-1. It will bear the favored
role when it begins league
action, despite yesterday's
13 to 1 practice loss to Ash

contender. Grants Pass looks

Crater has a substantial
crew with experience and
fine talent and is expected to
make and strong and spirited
bid for the District 6 A-l ban

First Indication
This week end's contention
will provide the first real in

Oregon conference clubs
match up. Bad weather has

the show buildings of the

On the conference race
Grants Pass Coach Ron Mau

Saturday
Eugene - IUPD The sixth
running of the Far West re

the Oregon and Oregon State
track teams are going, there
may not be enough athletes
left to run the meet.
Defending national collegi

vored to win the team title,
as it has every year since the
meet Began.
However, Coach Bill Bow-
erman's already - dwindling
forces got another shock
Thursday when distance man
Mike Lehner was ordered to
the sidelines for at least two
weeks because of mononucle

third in the NCAA , steeple

lost for the season.

distance man Ted Abram Is
sidelined with a heavy cold,
and quarter-mile hopeful Bob
Bruce has dropped out of
school. Pole vaulter Gerry
Moro and Javelin thrower

minor aliments.

State, favored in the 100, is
out of action with a pulled
muscle. Sprinter Lynn Eves
and quarter-miler Lee Hazen
also have muscle woes.
Washington State sprinter
Jim Easley is through for the
season because of muscle
problems and defending pole
vault champion John Cramer
of Washington is a doubtful
participant Saturday for the
same reason.
The meet is scheduled to
start at 1 p.m., with the first
running event at 2.

Olympic star Donna De Va

Cleveland Second
The Cleveland Swim club,
which set the former record
