MRS. BERTHA GUCHES
Rtcotdi Valley Song .
Pear Blossom Song
Brought to Life as
Festival Approaches
"The Pear Blossom Song,
written and copyritcd In
1955 by Mrs. Bertha Apple'
Sate Guchcs, 1404 Thomas rd.,
is being brought to life by
Mrs. Guchcs and interested
friends.
After seven years, Mrs.
Guchcs said, a childhood
frinnH tins nffnmrf in assist
her in getting the song before
the public. Mrs. Karl (Ar-
one had ever written about
pear blossom time."
During her early childhood
Mrs. Guches played the piano
and has always had a love for
music. She has written many
songs since writing "Pear
Blossom Time," but said this
is the one she would like to
get before the public, since it
is about the Rogue valley.
Mrs. Eve Prentice Webster
Ictha) Knutsen has helped
with getting the song taped
and on sheet music. Albert
Hunteman, music instructor
at McLoughlin Junior High
school, was contacted and put
me song on sheet music.
, Russ Jamison, radio an
nouncer, prompted Mrs.
Guches to write the song
when he made a statement
that "songs had been written
sbout peach picking time,
cherry blossom time, and
apple blossom time, but no-
- and her band first presented
the song to the public recent
ly on television. Ted Jen
nings, Ron Bartlett and Miss
Judy Stewart sang as a trio
for the presentation. The
group also presented it at the
White City Domiciliary.
Mrs. Guches is the great-
granddaughter of Jesse Apple-
gate Guches, from whom the
Applegate coup try was
named. He also surveyed the
Oregon Trail" and was
called "The Sage of ; Yon
callo". .
