His morning subject is "Scenes About the Cross," and his eve' ning series is on the general theme "Calvary and the Gos pel." Grants Pass Man Is Ordained by Church Grants Pass - Hugh Gould, service officer for Josephine county, recently was ordained as minister of the Foursquare Gospel church. Gould, who plans to retire next year after serving the county for 30 years, is prepar ing to work as a minister and counselor following his retire ment. Jacksonville - "Stability in Shaky Situations" will be the topic of the message which the Rev. King K. Jones will give during the 11 a.m. wor- hip service Sunday in the First Presbyterian church of Jacksonville. This sermon is part of a series of sermons drawn from the' Psalms on which the morning message and anthem are both based. The choir will sing the anthem entitled "God Is Our Refuge," an arrange ment of Psalm 46. Guest or ganist for the service will be Charles Wall, Medofrd. During the worship service an offering will be taken for The One Great Hour of Shar ing, a cooperative effort of all the church to give aid to ref ugees and alleviate suffering around the world. Rice, publishing sec retary of the Oregon Confer ence of Seventh-day Adven tists will be guest speaker at the 11 a.m. service in the Medford church Saturday. "Twice Dead Twice Alive" is the title of a lec ture to be presented by Du ane M. Corwin Sunday at 7:30 p.m. In the American Legion hall in Central Point. Preceding the lecture a film entitled "The Deluge of Noah's Day" will be shown. Monday night, Mr. Corwin will speak on "Israel in Bible Prophecy" and Abraham, the Friend of God" will be shown in color. "Moses In Egypt" will be shown Tuesday night, and the lecture will be "Tongues of the Spirit." The same schedule will be repeated in the Shady Cove grade school gymnasium on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday nights. 'Bring a Neighbor' Sunday Is Scheduled "Bring a Neighbor" is the Sunday theme for the 9:45 a.m. service at the Fourequare church, 2200 Roberts rd. The contest, which was launched last Sunday, continues until the Sunday following Easter. Theme for the contest is "Fishers of Men" and each Sunday a theme for the week is announced. Sunday, Frank Wallace will be In charge of a fish pond. Each person attending for the first time, will be given an opportunity to "fish." Teachers of the week given honorable mention are Mrs. Don Rogers and Mrs. James Trimble. Amadeo Q Zarza. Mr. Zarza is a minister of the United Church of Christ in Baguio City, the Philippines. Mr. Zarza s. sermon topic will be "Christ the Hope of the Philippines." The Hev, Robert W. The evening's Thank Offering To Be Given Sunday Sunday at the 11 a.m. serv ice, St. Mark's Episcopal church will join Episcopal Churchwomen from the en tire United States and other countries in presenting their Spring United Thank of fering. This year marks the 74th year in which pennies, nick els, dimes and dollars have been dropped, day by day. into little blue boxes as an expression of thankfulness of women everwhere for the blessings and good things of life. The several million dollars which are given triennlally in the United Thank Offering are used to train young wom en for church work. It also provides for doctors, nurses and teachers, helps repair old church buildings and pay for new ones and provides retire ment pensions for women workers In the church. Mrs. William Ardry, UTO custodian for St. Mark's, has asked all women participating in Sunday's offering to trans fer the contents of their blue boxes to the envelopes provid ed at the church and to retain the blue box itself for future use. Unitarians To Hear Proposed Letter The Rogue Valley Unitarian Fellowship will hear an ad dress at the Red Cross build ing, 60 Hawthorne ave., at 11 a.m. Sunday by Clarence M. Crews, Central Point. His topic will be "A Proposed Open Letter to the Pope Re garding the Ecumenical Coun cil." The address will be follow ed by discussion and social periods. Mr. Crews came to this area about a year and a half ago, after spending more than 40 years In the practice- of law, particularly in the patent field, in New York City. He has been chairman of the pro- f;ram committee of the fcl owship for more than a year. Witnesses Note Week's Activities A week of activity at the Kingdom hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 2402 Jacksonville highway, will be highlighted by a visit by Leo A. Mahan, circuit minister of Jehovah's Witnesses. Mr. Mahan will speak on the subject, "Is Your Destiny of Your Own Making? The lecture will begin at 4 p.m. on Sunday. Teen-Agers Visit Christian College Ashland A group of 14 teen-agers from Ashland area, including members of the Lithia Church o Christ, were In Portland to attend the High School days program at Columbia Christian college last Friday and Saturday. Columbia Christian college is a liberal arts junior college. High school students were guests of the college. Sermon subjects for Sun day services of the Church of Christ, meeting across from Lithia park, will be "Work ing Together for Christ" and "Living Sacrifice s." The morning sermon will stress teamwork in religious service and the evening sermon giv ing more of oneselves to Christ. There will also be a meeting on Sunday at 6:45 p.m. for practicing singing. Ralph Wood is to direct the activi ties of this meeting. Bethel Assembly Lists Sunday Topics The sermon title for Sun day's 11 a.m. worship service at Bethel Assembly of God, 1225 East McAndrews rd., will be, "Faith That Origin ates From The Supernatural." Relief Funds To Be Donated Sunday Catholics of Medford and other Jackson county parishes will make their annual con tribution to the Catholic Bishops' Relief Fund Sunday. Envelopes for the collection were distributed in all Roman Catholic churches in the Unit ed States last Sunday. A pastoral letter from Arch bishop Edward D. Howard, urging contributions to the fund, was read in all churches of the Portland archdiocese. Proceeds from the collec tion are used to buy drugs and the necessities of life for '.he poor and needy throughout the world. Distribution of sup plies is handled by the Cath olic Relief Services, a pro gram of the National Catholic Welfare conference.
