Showtime" 'Showtime on "3" O&C Lands Omitted From School Plan Salem ruri) - O & C lands won't be wrapped into the formula tor allocating basic school money by this session of the legislature. The House Education com mittee voted 7-2 Wednesday to table a bill that would have required consideration of revenues from the federal O&C grant lands In allocat ing school equalization i oney to counties. The O&C lands are In 17 Western Oregon counties and Klamath county. The money comes from timber. Counties lacking O&C reve nues have Insisted they should get a greater share of the school money to make up for It. Nim mo, 34, Eugene, died late Tuesday night when his car struck a bridge abutment at the western edge of Eugene on Highway 220. Police said he may have suffered a heart attack. Eugene i Dr. Ralph D Casey, former director of the school of journalism of the University of Minnesota, will serve as visiting professor in the University of Oregon school of journalism during spring term. Dr. Casey, whose appoint ment was announced by Dean John L. Hulteng of the school of journalism, has served as visiting professor at Stanford and the University of Califor nia at Berkeley since his re tirement from the director ship at Minnesota. Dr. Casey received B.A. and M.A. degrees from the Uni versity of Washington and the Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin. He is the author of several books in the field of propaganda and of numer ous articles in professional publications. He twice served as presi dent of the American Associ ation of Schools and Depart ments of Journalism, for 10 Balance of Payment Deficit Not Halted Washington - (UPH - The ad ministration efforts to re duce the U.S. balance of pay ments deficit and end. the gold outflow had only limited success last year.
