Raymond Lewis Thompson (SOCP photo) Beauticians To Visit Nursing Homes in Area Today members Rogue Valley unit, Oregon Beautician association, are to visit the Jackson County Farm home, McCue's Nursing home and the Rogue Valley Nursing home to give perma nent waves and hair sets to women patients. This is an annual project of the unit in observance of National Beau ty Salon week which this year will be February 10 through 16. A window decorating con test between shops will be conducted with judging to be done February 10. Theme for the contest is "There's Magic In a New Hair Do." A kick-off breakfast is planned for Monday, Febru ary 11 in the Medford hotel. During the January meet ing in the Jackson House re cently several candidates the were initiated. They were the Mesdames Ginger McCallis ter, Lavene Dixon, Margaret Truax, Maxine Rheinschmidt, Christine Rose, Ann Brun ning, Lee Horn, Marge Hof- fine, Ala Dailey, Holly Smits and Mary Neal. Mrs. Eunice Johnson, Rose burg unit member, was a guest and 23 members at tended. 1 VFW Auxiliary Sponsors Dance The department of Oregon auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars will sponsor a dance Monday, February 4 at 8 p.m., in the Veterans Domi ciliary at White City. Transportation will be fur nished at the Greyhound bus depot at 7:30 p.m. Manor Resident Home From Hawaii Mrs. D. Ford McCormick of Rogue Valley Manor, has returned to Medford after spending five weeks in Hon olulu where she was a guest of her son-in-law and daugh ter, Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Ral ston, and their children, Lin da, David and William Ral ston. The traveler was accompan ied on the trip by another granddaughter, Miss Lucy Spangler, a former Medford resident, now doing graduate work toward her master's de gree in history at the Univer sity of Oregon. Mrs. Ralston Is the former Miss Lucy McCormick of Medford. Phoenix, follow ing their return from a wed ding trip to northern Oregon. The couple were married in a ceremony January zu ai First Methodist church, Med ford. The bride, the former Frances Louise Stout, is a granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank McClellan, 43 North Columbus avenue. Mr. Thompson is a son of Mrs. Dorothy Thompson, 410 Rose street. Phoenix. Dr. George G. Roseberry of ficiated at the 2 o'clock dou ble ring ceremony attended by 130 relatives and friends. Given in marriage by her grandfather, the bride wore a floor length gown of Chan tilly lace and net fashioned with square neckline, long sleeves and tiered skirt. Her elbow length veil was held by a pearl crown and she carried a white orchid en circled by white carnations. Attendants Listed Mrs. Keith Thompson, Cor- vallis, sister-in-law of the bridegroom, was matron of honor and other attendants were Mrs. David McClurg, Miss Lorna Thompson, Phoe nix, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Darlene O'Dear. They wore emerald green satin sheath dresses with matching float veils and shoes. Mrs. Thompson's frock was identical except for a full skirt. They carried bou quets of white carnations. Miss Melinda Smith, Ash land was flower girl. She wore a floor length lace dress and short veil and carried a bas ket of white carnations. Ring bearer was Matt Mahaffey. Keith Thompson, Corvallis, the bridegroom's brother, served as best man. Seating the guests were Gary Chriss, Phoenix, David McClurg and Otto Kahnert. Candlelighters were the Misses Marvis and Janice Franks, Ashland. They wore ballerina length frocks of white and silver. Mrs. Leslie Boardman play ed the organ and accompa nied Mrs. D. G. MacDougall, soloist. White chrysanthe mums decorated the church and white satin bows marked the pew ends. For her granddaughter's wedding and reception which followed at the church, Mrs. McClellan wore a powder blue dress with white accesso ries and pink rosebud cor sage. Mrs. Thompson chose a royal blue dress with red ac cessories and her flowers were white carnations. At the reception Mrs. An gelo O'Dear cut and served the wedding cake and Mrs, Cartee Wood, Junction City, Kan., presided at the punch bowl. Mrs. Kenneth Cox poured the coffee and Miss Dona Wilson was in charge of the guest book. For traveling north on their wedding trip, the bride wore an olive green suit with white accessories and the white orchid from her bridal bouquet. The bride is a graduate of Phoenix High school and is a telephone operator with Pa cific Northwest Bell Tele phone company. Mr. Thomp son attended Phoenix and Al- Mi bany High schools and is em ployed by Medford Tire Serv ice Inc. Among the out of town guests attending the wedding were Mrs. John Townslcy, grandmother of the bride groom and Mrs. Ethel Koenig, great aunt of the bridegroom, both Muwaukie; Mrs. Mar- jorie Sines, Rogue River, mother of the bride; Mr. and Mrs. L. O. Rogers, Prospect, and Mr. Wood, Junction City, Kan. Prior to the wedding the bride-elect was honored at two showers. One was given by telephone company em ployees. Hostesses were Mrs. Roy Kadin, Mrs. Clifford Goodlctt, and Mrs. Lewis Shipley. Some 30 friends attended. The second shower was given by Mrs. Larry Konkel and Mrs. Arthur Henter. About 25 friends attended. Couple Plans June Ceremony A June 8 wedding date has been set by Miss Karen Joann Aeschliman and Curtis Vale Womelsdorf, whose engage ment was announced by the bride-elect's parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Aeschliman, 429 Benson street. The bridegroom-elect is a son of Mrs. Evelyn Womels dorf, 24 Mace road, and Russell Womelsdorf, Ridge field, Wash. Miss Aeschliman is a Med ford High school graduate and is employed by Dr. F. Lee Mellish and by the Rogue Valley Manor. Her fiance is employed at Cascade Wood products, White City. issionaries To Be Married Ashland The engagement of Miss Phyllis Walker to Conrad Hurd was announced recently by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John E. Party Set Medford Sojourners club will observe the anniversary of the organizatnin at an an nual birthday luncheon for members and guesUon Valen tine's day, Thursday, Febru ary 14 at 12:30 p.m. at Girls Community club. I Church Concert Scheduled Musicians and singers of the Apostolic Faith church will present their annual concert in the church auditorium at Third and Central avenue, i noay, February 8. under the direction of William E. Wal-den. The program will include the 45-piece orchestra playing Mozart's "Alleluja," "Stars and Stripes Forever" "Fin- landia." The 65-voice mixed chorus will be accompanied by the orchestra as they sing the Negro spiritual, "Go Down Moses," and a special arrange ment of "Battle Hymn of the Republic." The chorus will also sing "Behold, God the Lord from the "Elijah," and the spiritual, "Little Innocent Lamb." A piano quartet composed of Mrs. Robert M. James, Mrs. Clifford Friesen, Mrs. Lloyd Tyson Jr., and Miss Linda Carver, will repeat "Marche Slav, on last year s concert. Soloist Duane Jones, baritone, will sing, "The Living God." Mrs. Arthur Hialt, contral to, of the Apostolic Faith headquarters church in Port land will be guest artist, and she will bring her accompa nist, Mrs. Audrey Wallace Mrs. Hlatt will sing a group of spirituals. i Group Attends Rites at Weed Hornbrook - Mr. and Mrs. Henley Clawson, accompanied by their daughter and two grandchildren, Mrs. R. E. Sea man and Jane and Bob, of Yrcka, attended the wedding January 28 of Miss Heidi Escherich of Coburg, Ger many, and Thomas Fine of Weed, Calif. The bride's moth er, Mrs. Maria Escherich could not be here. Mr. Fine's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Fine of Weed. The ceremony was held at the Weed Grace Presbyterian church. The reception and dinner for approximately 250 guests, was held at St. Michael s Parish hall in Weed. The Wednesday before his wedding, the bridegroom was graduated from San Francisco State college. He has com pleted his tour of duly with the Army where he met his future bride while he was stationed in Germany. The younf couple made a week's wedding trip and are at home in the San Francisco Bay area. .. Mi Kartn Aiichliman Caldwells Announce Marriage Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Cald well, 860 Wabash street, Med ford, announce the marriage of their daughter, Miss Loret ta Lee Caldwell, to Roy Ben nett, in Reno, Nevada, Janu ary 19. The bridegroom is a son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Ben nett, Milbrae, Calif. The ceremony was read at 8 o'clock in the evening by the Rev. William Harring in the Little White chapel. The bride wore a pink suit and her flowers were white orchids. Attending from Medford were the bride s parents; Mr. and Mrs. R. . Marsh, uncle and aunt of the bride, and Da vid Caldwell, her brother, with his fiance, Miss Barbara Walker. The bridegroom a parents also attended. Following the ceremony the wedding dinner was served in Eugene's restaurant in Reno. Fourteen guests attended. The bride was graduated from Medford High school in 1960 and was a dental assist ant in San Francisco. The bridegroom was graduated from Capachino High school in Milbrae in 1959 and attend ed San Mateo State college. He is an electronics engineer at Stanford Research center at Menlo Park, Calif. Miss Trautman, a 1961 graduate of Crater High school, is employed by School District No. 6 as a reception ist at the superintendent's office. Mr. Jeskey is a graduate of North Marion High school, Aurora and Oregon State uni versity. He is employed by School District No. 6 as a vo cational agriculture teacher. A July wedding is planned. Relatives and friends of members also are invited to make, the tour which will begin at 10 a.m. The club will meet niter the tour in the Jackson county courthouse at 12 noon for lunch. Sack lunches will be required and the club will serve dessert and coffee, Mrs. Lena Stueben will be hostess. A business meeting will follow. Lavender and Old Lace Valentine Ball Theme Lavender and Old Lace" is the theme for the 1963 Val entine ball of Beta Sigma Phi sorority. The event, sponsored each year by the city council of the group, will be held Feb ruary 9 at Rogue Valley Coun try club. A buffet dinner will be served at 8 p.m. During the evening a val entine queen will be crowned. She will be selected from the representatives chosen by the various chapters. At a recent meeting of the Beta Sigma Phi City council, Mrs. Herbert Edwards report ed on plans for the 1964 state convention which will be held here. As planned, the Grants Pass chapters will take charge of buffet dinner on Friday night, Ashland chapters will serve the Saturday noon luncheon, a banquet on Saturday night will be sponsored by XI Beta Kappa and Beta Xi chapters of the Medford council; a ball will be sponsored by Alpha Beta and Beta Upsilon chap ters and a brunch on Sunday to be planned by Xi Mu and Alpha Rho chapters. The money made from this benefit event will be used this year to help defray ex penses on the new pep band uniforms for the high school pep band.
