JANUARY 13, 1963 Marriaoe Ot Interest In Valley News of interest here is the recent marriage of Miss nolores Ann Pfahl, daughter I of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore R. Pfahl, Portland, and Lt. Mi Wavne Harris, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Harris, Roseburg, former jacuson county residents. Lieutenant and Mrs. Harris are living in Sherman, Tex., where me bridegroom is siauonea o pilot with the Air Force at Perrin Air Force base. He is a grandson of Mrs. C. Rease Braley 01 me nugue Manor, who attended the rites. The wedding ceremony was read by Dr. Dallas McNeil at 8 o'clock in the evening, December 22 in the Fremont Methodist church in Portland. Mic. riavle Harris, a sister of the bridegroom, was the honor attendant, and brides- matrons were Mrs. Robert Fair man. Redwood i-iiy, Calif., and Mrs. Nicnoias T-irf Portland, cousins of the bride. Miss Ginger Harris, another sister ot the Driae groom, was the bridesmaid. Gene Rogers, Roseburg, was best man. Ushers were Wil liam Oerding and Kenneth Hermes, both Roseburg, and Richard Wlthnell, Seaside, Ore. Is Larg Evant . ! About 600 guests were In ,i.a n the wedding and the 5 reception held in the church reception hall. The bride, given in marri age by her father, wore a gown of peau de soie with sweetheart neckline and trimmed with re-embroidered Alencon lace appliques at the urn istliniv The floor length skirt was designed with chapel train. Her silk Illusion veil was held with petals of lace from a small pearl trimmed Swedish crown. She carried a cascade bouquet of gar denias. The attendants wore gold peau de soie gowns and car ried matching bouquets. Susan Pfahl, West Linn, Ore,, and Donald Krahmer, Hillsboro, Ore., cousins of the bride were the flower girl and the ring bearer. The couple made their wed ding trip to Timberline lodge on Mt. Hood. i ' The bride, who taught at Sunnyvale, Calif., is a 1961 graduate of Oregon State uni iversity where she was affili ated with Alpha Phi sorority. . The bridegroom, also a 1961 graduate of the university, is a member of Lambda Chi fra ternity. Student Member Of College Staff Miss Marlene B. Klym, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley T. Klym, Gold Hill, has been selected for the busi ness staff of Tiefen, Mt. Angel college yearbook. Miss Klym, a freshman at the college, is a 1962 grad uate of Medford High school, where she served as a re porter on the school paper. Marietta circle members will be at the home of Mrs. Robert Balk,- 1608 Lenora drive. The meeting will open at 9:30 a.m., and Mrs. Will Mauck will conduct the ses sion and the program. Devo tions will be led by Mrs. La Von Norton. The Esther circle meeting will begin at 8 p.m. in the home of Mrs. Johnny John son, 1519 Ridgeway drive, with a program on White Cross work. Mrs. Robert Blacketor will lead devotions and Mrs. Jack Meves, chair man, will preside. The Woman's Mission so ciety of Eastwood met Jan uary 8 with Mrs. Dean An derson, vice president pre siding. The program, under direction of Mrs. William Robertson, was a skit en titled, "God Is Love," which emphasized reaching un churched children. In the skit in addition to Mrs. Robertson were Mrs. Mel Rennick, Mrs. Will Mauck and Mrs. Dale Mauck. Mrs. Blacketor led devotions. Hostesses were Mrs. Ander son, Mrs. Oral Harshman and Mrs. Johnny Johnson. Next meeting will be Feb ruary 12 at .10 a.m. in the church. Mrs. E. Ron Rice president, will preside. Yreka Theta Rho Club Initiates Yreka - Four candidates were initiated recently into Laurel Theta Rho Girls club at the Odd Fellows hall. The candidates were Susan Schneider, Penny Farns worth, Janis Sword and Don na Stewart. A potluck dinner preceded the business session and party. Guests at the dinner in ad dition to club members, were their mothers, the four can didates, Mrs. Madeleine Wi man, advisor; Mrs. William Singleton, assistant advisor, and Rebckahs, Mrs. Mary Bo vee, noble grand, and Floy Johnston. Scottish Rite Club Meeting Scheduled , Scottish Rite Women's club will meet Monday, January 14 at 8 p.m., in the Medford Ma sonic temple. Mrs. Charles Hoppe will preside for the business session. Mrs. Wyles Berry is chair man of the refreshment committee. t, " 1 W At Jl "N Miss Schultz Installed as Bethel Queen C 7 Mr. and Mrs. Tommit Seth Putnam (Jones photo) Paratrooner and Bride Now in North Carolina Yreka - Miss Mary Etta Schultz, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Schultz was in stalled recently as the honored queen of Yreka bethel, Inter national Order o Job's Daughters in ceremonies held at the Masonic temple. Other officers installed were Pamela Turner, senior princess; Carol Hunter, Junior princess; Beverely Sutherlin, guide; Linda Phelps, marshal; Judy van Over, recorder; Dcbby Wigley, chaplain; Nar cie McBain, librarian; Millie Miller, musician; Rhonda Oh lund, treasurer: Darilyn Bray, Beth Phelps, Tone Hosford, Susan DcNurc, and Virginia Stewart, messengers; Susan Scammcll, and Susctte La bate, custodian; Meg Taylor, and Linda Dunham, guards, and Ellen Hohar, flag bearer. Members of the bethel choir also were installed. Mrs. Lee Morford gave the opening address and Miss Pa tricia Stewart was installing officer. She is the retiring queen. Soloist for the evening was John Quiglcy, and hostess es were Jean Messner and Linda Mcck. Mr. and Mrs. Tommie Seth Putnam are at home in Fay etteville, N.C. following a wedding trip from Grants Pass. Their wedding was held recently in First Baptist church, Grants Pass. The bride is the former Judith Ann Marsh, daughter of Mr, and Mrs. Everett C. Marsh, 1576 Northwest Haw thorne avenue, Grants Pass, and the bridegroom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Seth William Putnam, 2008 Suzanna street, Medford. The Rev. Leroy Fraser offi ciated at the double ring cere mony held December 21 at 8 o'clock in the evening. Bas kets of red carnations and white stock decorated the church. Mrs. George Anderson played the organ and accom panied Ronald Hollenstead, soloist. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor length gown of white Chan tilly lace fashioned with Sa brina neckline, long sleeves and the full skirt of alternat ing tiers of lace and pleated tulle formed a chapel train. Her elbow length veil was held by a Swedish crown of seed pearls and crystals. She carried a cascade bouquet of Eucharis lilies and stephano-tis. Mrs. Merle Ely, Grants Pass, was matron of honor. Miss Valarie Eckstein was brides- maid. They wore frocks of red satin with matching jack ets and bell skirts. Their head dresses were red pillbox hats with short red veils and their accessories were red and Mrs. Morford, who has served 12 years as senior guardian resigned her office, and installed Mrs. Mildred Sutherlin as the new senior, and Dr. Robert Stewart as as sociate guardian. Following Installation cere monies, past honored queen, Patty Stewart, presented the newly Installed honored Retired Teachers To Hear Speaker "Rumblings in Yugoslavia" will be the subject of a talk by Miss Mary Ellen Bell when she speaks Monday, January 14 before members of the Jackson County Retired Teachers in the Girls Com munity club. A vocal group from Hcd rick Junior High school, di rected by Carroll Graber, will furnish, the program. The hostesses will be Mrs. Mary Coffin and Miss Mar guerite Corwin. The social committee will be composed of Miss Mary Moore, Mrs. Agnes Deaver, Mrs. Inez Lud wick, Miss Clayton Burrow and Mrs. Mae Chirgwin. queen her official pin, Mis3 Schultz in turn presented Miss Stewart with her past honored queen's pin. Charles Schultz presented his daughter with her gavel, and Mrs. Morford was presented her past senior guardian pin by Miss Stewart, Guests escorted and wel comed were honored queen, Jeannle Milvaney from Mount Shasta bethel; Cindy Gaynor, senior princess; Pam Mills, a past honored queen, and Chot Klmrey, associate guardian. Reames Social Club Will Meet Reames Social club, Order of the Eastern Star, will hold the monthly luncheon, Wed nesday, January 16 at 12 noon at the Masonic temple. Mrs. H. E. Nulton, president, will preside. All members of Eastern Star are invited. Mrs. Fred Purdin and Mrs. I. D. Canfield are co-chairmen, assisted by Mrs. E. G. Trow bridge, Mrs. Lema Price and Mrs. E. E. For her daughter's wedding and reception which followed in the reception room at the church, Mrs. Marsh chose an aquamarine knit sheath with winter white accessories and white carnation corsage. Mrs. Putnam wore a blue knit with winter white accessories and white carnation corsage. At the reception Mrs. E. H. Shipler cut the wedding cake assisted by Mrs. William Roesch. Mrs. Robert Duff pre sided at the punch bowl and Miss Judith Foote was in charge of the guest book. Miss Carol Duff and Miss Beverly Allison were at the gift table. For traveling to North Caro lina where the bridegroom is stationed with the paratrooper division of the U.S. Army, the bride wore a gray three piece knit suit with red acces sories and a red carnation lei, a gift of a friend in Honolulu, Hawaii. The bride is a graduate of Grants Pass High school and attended Pacific university.
