JANUARY 6. 1963 1 ONE OF TECHNIQUES Water color painting with Arlista water colors is one of the art techniques which teachers from Ashland public schools will "learn by do ing" at an art workshop conducted by Mrs. Nancy Watkins, art consultant for Binney and Smith, Inc. Brophy, Medford, was elected president of the' Jackson County Bar associa tion for 1963, according to a tabulation of ballots n adc at the association's meeting last week. William E. Duhaime and Karl Clinkinbeard, both of Medford, were elected first and second vice presidents. Secretary of the association will be Bonnie Phillips, Med ford, and Gerald J. Scannell, Ashland, will serve as- treas urer. Harry A. Skerry Jr., Ash land, served as president of the association during 1962. Jan. 8, 9 and 10, at Bellview school, Stanley C. Jobe, su perintendent of schools, an nounced recently. A free educational service provided by Binney and Smith Inc. manufacturers of Crayola crayons and other school art supplies, the work shop will be conducted by Mrs. Nancy Watkins, who has taught extensively and holds a degree from Texas Wom en's university. Teachers will spend 15 hours of their own time learning more about modern creative art education and some of its materials and tools. They will learn by doing, and trying out the art techniques presented by Mrs. Watkins. . The technicians will In clude some of the uses of crayons, water colors, poster paints, finger paints, colored chalks, and modeling clay. Simple craft techniques also will be shown giving teachers an opportunity to work with paper paste and other materials to gain three dimentional effects. All of the art workshop activities will be experiences which the teachers can relate to their own classroom teaching. School officials responsible for the workshop arrange ments, in addition to Jobe, include Verne H.
