Anderson currently works In a potato warehouse hand ling 100-pound sacks of po tatoes. 4-H NEWS Antelope Clubi The Antelope 4-H club meeting of Dec. 17 was held Ht the Eagle Point Grange. The meeting was called to order by Gary Hansen about 8 p.m. Two new club members were introduced under new business. They were Del Rob ertson and Robert Damon. Both will be in beef. There was no further busi ness so the meeting was ad journed. After the meeting our Indi vidual meetings were held and officers elected. The Beef club elected Mat Hansen, president; Raygina Krunibcal. vice president; Maryln Lathrop, secretary; Jim Hubbard, reporter; Lester Hill, songleader, and Eugene Stanley, game leader. The Swine club elected Judy Hill, president; Bob Hub bind, vice president; Jimmy Hubbard, song leader; Donna Barlon, game leader; Judy Hill, reporter and secretary. The Dairy club elected Bob Hubbard, president; Jim Hub bard, vice president; Donna Gcrcn. reporter, and Kathy I'rilcliard, secretary. After the meetings our an nual Christmas party was" held. It consisted of giving out gills, playing games, and singing songs. Later refresh ments were served. On the 4-H record books Mat Hansen received the high est individual points. The next meeting will be held Jan. 24. Kathy Pritchard, Reporter. r j Alvares case of eczema pediatrician, a Eciama Of Infants That common disease of in fants, eczema, which causes a patch of skin to become red nd inflamed, was discussed recently in an article by Dr. S. Robert Lewis of Princeton, N. J. Often it is hard to say what the cause is in p a r t i c ular , even when a skin specialist and an allergist put tneir heads together. The eruption tends to ap. Dear when the child is from 3 to 6 months of age, and it tends to clear up at about the age of two years. In the meantime, it tends to come and go. Oftentimes, the doctor usDects an allergic cause, especially when the child has relatives who sutler trom nay fever, asthma and hives. But careful study may fail to 'how that the baby's eczema is due to allergy. Sometimes the doctors suspect that ner vous tensions in the family can have an influence. Often the itching is severe. As one would expect, when the cause is food allergy, formula-fed infant is much more likely to have eczema than is a breast-fed infant. The disease is not dangerous unless a patch of red skin should become Infected. When an Infant is suffering from eczema, he should not be vac cinated against small-pox, be cause this could cause the skin condition to flare badly. By way of treatment, the Dhvsician will try to avoid local irritants or foods to which the child is sensitive He may apply remedies to re. lieve itching or to relieve in fection if it should appear. Extract of Tar A useful ointment contains an extract of tar in a "vanish ing cream" base. Often this quickly clears up the eczema. Dr. Lewis does not believe in using cortisone-like drugs. They may help spectacularly for a while, but then the eczema is likely to come back In a stubborn form. Before applying the ointment, crusts may have to be warned oil the reddened area of skin. Sometimes, it can be shown that wool or one of the new synthetic fibers irritates the infants' skin. If so, cotton clothes will have to be used. If food is suspect, tn "elim ination" diet should be tried. If the infant is on a cow's milk formula, he can be shifted onto goat's rrilk or a ioybean mixture. Cow's milk is a common offender, and eggs and orange juice can Iso be at fault. If it is still Rockefeller Starts Second Office Term Albany, N.Y. - UPn - Gov. Nelson A. We adults, if itching terribly, would be very angry If someone were to tie us up and we might never forget or forgive the bit of cruelty. Socks can be put over the hands so that the child cannot tear and in fect his skin with his nails. Oftentimes, the best treat ment for the itching is a sed ative which should be given, especially, at night.
