IATWQ- I Truck Collision - A loaded logging truck operated by Robert D. Richardson, 29, of 102 Third St., Talent, collided with a small van driven by William Ashley Hulshof, 23, of 24 1 i Morton St., Ashland, at 3:05 p.m. Friday. The col lision occurred at the inter section of Second and B sts. There were no injuries, and no citations were issued. Meeting Set The January meeting of Crater Lake branch Fleet Reserve association, will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 3, in the Jack son county courthouse audi torium. The association is an organization of enlisted men and temporary officers of the Navy, Nava Reserve, and Ma rine Corps. Medford Fires A flue fire was reported at 5:10 p.m. Fri. day at 916 South Central ave., according to Medford firemen. There was no damage. LILLIE OWEN Ashland Funeral services for Mrs. Lillic Bertha Owen, 88, of 145 Helman St., Ash land, who died Friday, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31, in Litwiller's Moun tain View chapel, Ashland. The Rev. B. J. Holland of First Presbyterian church, Ashland, will officiate. Burial will be in LaGrande. Ore., Wednesday, Jan. 2. Mrs. Owen was born Oct. 5, 1874, in Clay Center, and was married to Joseph D. Owen, who preceded her in death in 1934. Dee. 28, 1892. in Chillecolhc. Mo. They moved to Oregon from In dependence. Kans., in 1919. Mrs. Owen moved to Ashland from LaGrande in 1948. She is survived by two daughters, Gladys Owen, Ash land, and Mrs, Frank Steven son, Grants Pass: four sons, Frank G. Owen, Tulsa. Okla.; Lee R. Owen. Coffeyville, Kans.; James E. Owen, Elk City, Kans.; and Kenneth C. Owen, Redwood City, cant.; 11 grandchidren, and 23 great grandchildren. One son, Archie D. Owen, preceded her in death. OVAL R. McCLANAHAN Funeral services for Oval R. McClanahan. 2304 Spring St., who died Thursday, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday at Perl Funeral Home. The Rev. D. E. Millard, pastor of the New Age church, Eagle Point, will officiate. Com mital services will be in East wood IOOF cemetery. Mr. McClanahan was born i January 24. 1896 near Springfield. Missouri. H e came to Medford in 1902. He has been connected with the trucking and transfer bus iness most of his life. He was a veteran of World War I, serving with the U. S. Army, 63rd Infantry from June 2, 1918, to June 21. 1919. On January 10, 1920, in Jacksonville. Oregon, he was married to Yada Yucum, who survives. Other survivors in clude three sons, Floyd O McClanahan, Phoenix, Rich ard K. McClanahan, Medford. Stanley D. McClanahan, with the U.S. Army in Germany; five daughters, Mrs. Nelc'a Heath, Medford. Mrs. Nadeue Ellij, Medford. Mrs. Kay Mul- hollen, Medfjid, Mrs. Ann Haggard, Phoenix, Mrs. San dra Workman, Phoenix; one sister, Mrs. Sadie Lewis, Med ford; one brother. Allen Mc Clanahan. Medford and twenty . two grandchildren. One son, Lloyd A. McClan ahan, was killed In action during World War II in 1943. Casket bearers will be Jack Weber, Henry Rush, Edward Olsen, Claud Rector. Men Arrested on Homicide Charge New York -(DPI)- Two men arrested at a hotel here Friday night, were charged Saturday with two of five gunshot slay ings they are believed to have committed in the past week. Henry P. Dusablon, 20, Bos ton, and Emanuel Sampieri, 30, New York, were charged with homicide in connection with the "execution" slayings of two New York liquor store owners. The men, both ex convicls, were seized by po lice without a struggle in their rooms in the Belvedere hotel in midtown Manhattan. They were held without bail. Three of their alleged vic tims were store owners who were shot once in the head in holdups here Friday. The fourth victim was Hen ry Jasscm, the owner of a Manhattan novelty store, who was shot in the head and killed Wednesday morning. Detective George Barrett said Sampieri and Dusablon also killed a man identified as Thomas Ross in Woburn, Mass., last Saturday. Barrett said he and Detec tives Joseph Garahan and James Loeurto broke the case Friday afternoon when they found a diamond ring which had been taken off Jassem's left little finger in a pawn shop. "The motive in all the kill ings was robbery," Barrett said. "The two are just mad dog killers. They were just executions. CP Man Arrested on Destruction Charge Central Point - Walter Al len Anderson. 41. of 405 Ear- hart st.. Medford, has been lodccd in the county jail on a charce of destruction of personal property. Central Point Police Chief Ed Zander arrested Anderson Friday on a district court war rant. Anderson is charged with having caused $350 damage to property at the Corner Club tavern here on Thursday.
