They feel some 'distance should be left on each side of the Iron purtain within which Communist forces and the West might engage in limited action which would not neces sarily turn into nuclear warfare. It does not, however, involve vast denuclearized zones such as proposed by Polish Foreign Minister Adam Rapacki which would force American wsap ons back into the sea while leaving Russian tactical nu clear forces in the excellent strategic position. There also is the matter of cost involved in defending Europe.
