MEDFORD, OREGON White Cify Legion Post Gets Charter American Legion District Commander Bill Friend Jr., Grants Pass, recently pre sented White City post, American Legion, its charter. The post at the Veterans Administration Domiciliary has a total of 192 charter members. During the presen tation, Friend noted that the post had broken state records as to membership drive. The charter was presented to Leltoy Whipple who filled the position of post comman der following the resignation of Myron Prevost. (UPI) University Student Injured in Crash A University of Oregon slu. dent was injured Friday after noon in a rear end collision on Interstate Highway 5, two miles south of Rogue River, state police reported Satur day. Margaret Ellen Hemp stead, Orinda, Calif., suffered a broken nose and was re leased Saturday morning from Rogue Valley hospital. She was a passenger in a pickup truck driven by Richard Da vis Frampton, 19, of Eugene. State police said the pickup struck the rear of a car driven by Dale Onie Franks, 32, of 108Vi Columbia st., Medford. VanVlect, Ashland. j 40.7 Million Board Feet of Timber Is Sold at BLM Event A total of 40,712,000 board feet of limber located on seven tracts were sold at an oral auction by the Medford district of the bureau of land management last week. The Robert Dollar compa ny, Glendale, was high bidder on two tracts in Douglas coun ty. The first containing 4,105, 000 board feet brought a price of $96,362.15, the second, Kcl scy Peak of 11.041.000 board feet sold for $205,271.90. K and C Lumber company, Inc., Grants Pass, was the unsuc cessful bidder for both tracts. A sale of 5,249.000 board feet In the West Fork Evans creek area was purchased by Timber Products, Medford, without competition for $95, 249.10, and a tract in Jose phine county on the North Fork Big Windy, with a vol ume of 8,069.000 was pur chased at the appraised price ot $172,872 by Bate Lumber company, Merlin. Hassell, Medford, was the high bidder 'on the first of the three tracks with an offer of $31.50 on the Doug las fir. The tract contained 5.102,000 board feet and the total bid was $115,614 20. The tract is located near Howard Prairie reservoir. Lower bids were received from Steve Wilson, Kogap Manufacturing company and Grcensprings Lumber. The two Klamath county tracts on or near the Keno Access road were awarded to Klamath Hardwoods and Ko gap Manufacturing company. Klamath Hardwoods of Klam ath Falls outbid Greensprings Lumber company on a tract of 3,256,000 board feet for a price of $47,362.85. Bidding was confined to Shasta fir which brought a price of $1 1.75 per thousand. The final tract, purchased by Kogap Manufacturing com pany, Medford, received a high bid of $14.10 on white fir. The tract of 3,890,000 boHrd feet sold for $48,393.05. Unsuccessful bidders were Klamath Hardwoods, Modoc Lumber company and Green springs Lumber company. On Dec. 4, an oral auction was held on a 90-day salvage sale of 52,000 board feet in the Hyatt lake area. Inasmuch as there was no raising bid the sale was awarded by draw to Yost Logging of Shady Cove. McKcn.ie Brothers were un successful. The Medford district will offer four tracts totalling 23. 346.000 board feet Jan 10. The appraised price is $4 14,-251.40. ALARMS AT HOME Phoenix.
