Grants Pass Man Sentenced to Jail Eddie Carl Crowe, 18, Grants Pass, was sentenced to 10 days in the county jail Friday and fined $50 for as sault and battery. JACQUES. OBITUARIES KATHRIE ANN IVEN Kathrie Ann Iven, 6-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard E. Iven, former Med ford residents now of Salem, died Dec. 6 of leukemia. Re quiem mass was held Dec. 10 at St. Joseph's Catholic church. Interment followed in Belcrest Memorial park. Kathrie was a first grade student at St. Joseph's Cath olic school. Survivors, besides her par ents, include three sisters, Darcie, Toni and Cari; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Lacmmle, Eugene, and Mr. and Mrs. Ted Iven, Med ford residents until l'j years bko when they moved to Enid, Okla. CHESTERF PHILLIPS Ashland Chester Fred Phillips, grandson of Oregon pioneers, Eli K. and Elizabeth N. Anderson, who settled in the Talent area, died Dec. 7 at his Sunnyvale, Calif., home after a short illness. The body was forwarded to Ashland for entombment in Rest Haven mausoleum. Mr. Phillips was born in 1901 in Butte. Mont., and had lived in the Santa C'ira val ley for more than 30 years. He spent much of his early life in Ashland, later attend ing Tamalpias Military Acade my, San Rafael, Calif. He was employed as a con ductor by the Southern Pa cific Railway company for 26 years and belonged to the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. Survivors include his wid ow, Mrs. Blanche Phillips: a daughter, Mrs. Betty Weldy, Santa Clara, Calif.; his twin brother, Lester M. Phillips, and another brother, George F. Phillips; and one sister. Mrs. Vetabelle Carter, all of Ashland, and two grandchil dren. ' Another brother, Walter A. Phillips, an aviator, died dur ing World War I. The Veterans of Foreign Wars post and the high school field in Ashland are named in his honor. GEORGE M. ADAMS George Marion Adams, 52, of route 3, box 158C, died for an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound, Friday after noon. Funeral arrangements will be announced by Conger Morris Funeral directors. CHARLES LEWIS Funeral services for Charles B. Lewis, 69, of Jacksonville who died Thursday, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Conger- Morris downtown chapel. The Rev. Fredrick Ross Evans ot the First Chris tian church will officiate. Committal will be in Jack sonville cemetery. DAVID ANDERSON Services for David Ander son, 79, of 28 Myers court, who died Friday, will be held in the Conger-Morris down town chapel at 1 p.m. Mon day with the Reverend D. E. Millard officiating. Commit tal will be private in Hillcrest Memorial park. Mr. Anderson was born in Sweden, March 2, 1883, and had made his home in Med ford for the past 17 years. He was married to Inga Peterson, on June 30, 1928, in Minneapolis, Minn., who sur vives. Also surviving is a step-daughter, Mrs. Tillie Ek lund, Tacoma, Wash., three grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and a brother living in Sweden. MRS. ENID E. CASTER Mrs. Enid E. Caster died Friday at her home, 600 North Main St., Phoenix. Fu neral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday In Hillcrest Memorial chapel on the North Phoenix rd., with the Rev. William A. Saladin, Phoenix First Presbyterian church, of ficiating. Committal will be in the Phoenix cemetery with Conger-Morris Funeral direc tors in charge of arrange ments. Mrs. Caster was born July 27, 1880, in Minneapolis, Kan sas, and had lived in southern Oregon for 68 years. She was married Oct. 17, 1900, in Med for, to Labon Otto Caster, who preceded her in death. She was a member of the Phoenix Presbyterian church. She was member of the Phoenix Grange, the Phoenix Garden Club and the Neighbors of Woodcraft. Survivors include a son, Thomas M. Caster, Phoenix; three daughters, Mrs. Ray (El va) Clafalin, Phoenix; Mrs. Kelly (Marjorie) Brooks, Med ford: and Mrs. Ray (Sybil) Ed wards, Medford; a brother, Arthur W. Ellison, Medford; a sister, Mrs. Bessie Medley, Medford; eight grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Honorary bearers will be Walter Germcr, Chester Park er, Bert Stancllffe, Robert Furry, Charles Hockcrsinlth and Walker Caldwell.
