The parked vehicle, regis tered to Josephine Mabel Durgin. 1119 East 11th St., was knocked forward over the curb into a city-owned traffic sign, police said. Miss Bush told officers her vision was obscured by the fog. She received a slight cut in the mishap, according to reports, but did not require hospitalization. Locals Visitation - Olive Rebckah lodge will make its annual church visitation Sunday, Dec. 9, at the Central Church of Christ, 1440 South Oakdale ave. Members are to meet at the church at 10:45 a.m. to attend the 11 a.m. service. Flue Fire - Ashland fire men were called at 10:30 p.m. to control a flue fire at the John Volgamore home, 191 Hargadine St., Ashland. Minor damage was reported. Permits Issued - The Med ford building department has issued permits to Standard Oil company, to erect a serv ice station near the Biddle rd. interchange at an estimated cost of $23,000; to Walter A. Schirmer to erect a shop building at 1838 Delta Waters rd. at an approximate cost of $3,000; and to Stanley Langc borg to erect a residence at 1829 Brookhurst rd. at an an ticipated cost of $14,000. Arrested-Mcdford city po lice Wednesday arrested Fat rick Melvin McCormick, 27, of 412 Manzanita St., for fail ure to pay a fine in municipal court. He was lodged in Jack son county jail for a period of 25 days and was fined S50. He was cited on Sept. 2 for driving with a suspended op erator's license. Trio Arrested by Police for Thefts Ashland Roland James Harper, 20, of 109 Fourth St., and two Ashland juveniles have been arrested by Ash land police In connection with the theft of an auto and tires and wheels from other cars. Harper was charged with receiving and possessing stol en property, while the juve niles, one 16, the other 17, were charged with grand lar ceny, auto. The two juveniles admitted stealing a car south of Med ford several months ago and later stripping it of wheels and tires. They also admitted stealing tires and wheels from two other cars. 4-H News Spoont and Needles The Spoons and Needles 4-H club met at the home of Mrs. C. Wieskamp. Our club was divided into groups headed by Mrs. H. Humphrey, Mrs. F. Norris and Mrs. wieskamp. Two of the group made oatmeal raisin cookies and the other group peanut butter cookies. The baked cookies were served for our treat. The next meeting will be at Mrs. Wieskamp's, Dec. 20. BOTTOM Funeral services for Walter Perry Bottom, 82, of 3905 Cal houn rd., who died Thursday, will be held at 9:30 a.m. Sat urday in Conger-Morris down town chapel. Everett Cade of the Phoenix Church of Christ will officiate. Committal will be in Phoenix cemetery. Mr. Bottom was born Dec. 23. 1879, in Ennis, Texas, and had lived in southern Oregon fince 1926. He was married Oct. 20, 1903, in Portland, to Bessie Foster, who survives. Other survivors Include two daughters, Mrs. Doyle Carte Sr., Myrtle Creek; and Mrs. Chester Silliman, Medford; two brothers. Chester Bottom, Texas; and Joel Bottom, Arn old, Calif.; one grandson and three great granddaughters. Pallbearers will Include Al bert McBeath, Daniel Cal houn, George Bourne, Vern Harris. Mrs. Hood was the wife of the late Dellman O. Hood, who organized the Columbia Utilities company which now is part of the United Utilities Telephone system. Mr. Hood died on Oct. 28, 1961. DECEMBER 7. 1962 Improvements in Wages Suggested Portland 'UI'H Improve ments in minimum wage levels for women and minors employed by hospitals, nurs inc homes and child care fa cilities have been recommend ed by a wage and hour con ference board of the Oregon wage and Hour Commission. New minimunis of 90 cents an hour would be established in nursing homes and hos pitals next July 1, Increasing to SI an hour a year later. Minimunis in child care fa cilities and homes for the aged would go to 85 cents. Present minimum in both categories is 65 cents. This has been in effect since 1960.
