MEDFORD, OREGON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 29. 1962 AMA Committed To Fight Kennedy Medicare Plans Los Angeles - IUPD -The American Medical association was committed officially to day to throw itself into anoth er fight against President Kennedy's program for medi cal care for the aged financed with social security funds. The AMA House of Dele gates, the policy-making body, adopted a report Wednesday stating its members must "face the 1963-64 congression al campaign without defeat Ism or complacency." Annthor sprtinn nf Hia rp- port said that if American physicians are "confronted with a serious threat which would conscript them into Involuntary servitude," the House of Delegates should be called into emergency session to take counter action. Disease Reports Read The House of Delegates ses sion was held on the final day of a four-day AMA clinical meeting during which reports were read on advances in the fight against virtually all dis eases which afflict mankind. The delegates also reaffirm- to the effect that AMA mem bers "will not be a willing puny iu iiiijtciiiciiiLiig ouj .......... ...UiAu Jn,-imnni,l to the public welfare." This wordage was calcu lated to get the members set for an expected fight next year wnen me Kennedy ad ministration will make its second attempt to get through Congress its legislation on medical care. Food was prepared by Mrs. Carl Lemm, who also do nated trophies that were giv en to the most outstanding players on the football team. Mrs. Lemm presented Darryl Gillert, Ron Thornhill and Martin Pickle trophies during a brief ceremony. Eighteen letters, three awards and three trophies were present ed at the banquet. Boys receiving letters were Larry Cox, Tom Pickle, Mar tin Pickle, Howard Yar brough, Terry McNaught, Ron Kentfield, Darryl Gillert, John Baumgardncr, Walt Zusche, Ron Thornhill, Mike Millard. Ben Scott, Monty Pope, Greg Pctsch, George Windland, Don Lewis, Ervin Wilcher and Ron Johnson. Ron Johnson is the first freshman to get a letter in Illinois Valley High school football history. He also re ceived an award as most out standing freshman. Walt Zusche was named most in spirational player, and John Baumgardner the most im proved. Two other boys also will receive letters, it was an nounced, Bill Piper and Don ald Gill. The library was filled to ca pacity as Master of Ceremo nies Bert Eastcrbrook intro duced the speaker of the eve ning, Ted Schoph, athletic di rector at Southern Oregon college. He spoke on the bene fits of athletics. Elected to serve as chair men of next year's banquet were Wayne Petsch and Ralph Milliard. CP Elementary Thirty students of Central Point Elementary's fifth grade class recently visited the Cra ter Rock museum. The tour was in connection with their science class. Delmar Smith, owner of the museum, greeted students and talked to the class on rocks and explained where many of the stones are found. The class was divided into two groups to tour the mu seum. Students found it edu cational and helpful answer ing questions on classification problems encountered in mak ing their own collections in school. The class was accompanied by their teacher Lcs Wilson. They were transported to and from the museum by school bus.
