(UPI) Contracts To Be Let lor Projects In Winema Forest Klamath Falls Contracts will be awarded soon for ac celerated public works pro jects on the Winema National forest. Included in current bid Invi tations are seven modern com fort stations In the Aspen Point campground at Lake of the Woods, two residences and an equipment storage building at Chemult Ranger station, and three residences and an equipment storage building for the Chlloquin Ranger sta tion. Prcbid conferences have been arranged so prospective bidders may view the sites and discuss contract requirements with forest service representa tives. The Aspen Point camp ground will be shown at 1 p.m., Nov. 28. The Chlloquin and Chemult Ranger station sites will be shown Nov. 20. Bids will be opened in Port land, in the office of the re gional forester Dec. 12 for the Lake of the Woods comfort stations, Dec. 13 for the Chilo quln Ranger station improve ments, and Dec. 14 for the Chemult Ranger station build ings. Forest service officials pointed out that improvements planned under the contracts will be made possible through the accelerated public works program. They should not be confused with the development pro gram announced earlier for the Chlloquin Ranger station. Bids were called for in Oc tober for construction of four residences, an office, ware house and barracks, but all bids were rejected. The buildings will be read vertised for contracting in the near future and will be in ad dition to the structures pres ently advertised under public works. Work crews have been in the field since Nov. 2 on refor estation and timber stand im provement jobs on the Wine ma forest, also part of the ac celerated public works pro gram. The accelerated public works act signed into law by President Kennedy Sept. 14, was designed to initiate and speedup of state and local fed eral public works projects which would help provide im mediate useful work for the unemployed and underem ployed in labor surplus areas.
