Big brother, it said, may be lurking behind a two-way mirror. The order was contained in Defense Department memor anda dealing with Communist espionage methods that might be used to trap U.S. military men or civilians working overseas. The regulations prohibited 'any sexual relatinnahin whatsoever with Soviet or satellite citizens." Sacretly Photographed There have been instances outside of spy novels, tha Pentagon said, where Ameri. cans were plied with liquor and maneuvered into "sexual or homosexual activity" while being secretly photographed. The nicturei then v.r used to blackmail the Ameri- cans into spying for the Com munists, it said. The memos also warned1 nt tie-pin microphones, minia ture electronic transmitters hidden in shoe heels, and in fra - red Dhotosranhv In tha dark. The Pentagon told or tha two-way mirror, dear to the heart of fictioneers. whirh it- said was used in motel rooms in several instances. It is glass treated to appear as a mirror in the room, but which ran h seen through clearly by some one standing on the other side. A case in nnint. tn nmut Russia "bugging," the depart ment said, was the 1958 visit of Vice President Richard M. Nixon to the Soviet Union. U.S. officials staffed a rim. versation in a room in whinh one official was referred to by a much higher rank than he actually held. The next day, Soviet officials addressed mm with the higher rank and lavished much great courtesy upon him. ' It must constantlv he IV. membered," the Pentagon said, "that Soviet bloc intelli gence and security services carry their epsionage activi- tics to fantastic lengths. They are in fact used In day-to-day activities and operations." Ncariv 3St) narenf nJ teachers heard Dr. T .enn f Mulling, director nf lh Southern Oregon college speech and hearlne ellnle He. velop this point at the Parent Teacher's association meeting recently at the Wilson school in Mcaiord. Children are ofen delaved in their speech development,'' he said, "becau.se there hn been no reason for talking. not enough attention to speech in the home nnnr speech models, too much baby ing, rejection of the children, hearing and physical prob lems, or because of mlscel lancous emotional shocks and conflicts." Avoiding such rielav In speech development may bo accomplished by parents in a number of ways suggested by the speaker: Give the child love, attention, and security; speak slowly and clearly to ntm at all times; be sensible and fair in your disciplinary methods: give him olentv nf sound stimulation with games, stones, rnymcs and songs; avoid asking him to "say" words; and avoid talking about him in his presence. Boy Dies During Game at School Dallas, Tex. - IUM - The soft spiral sailed into Jerry AH- man's arms and the W. H. Gaston Junior high school stu dent dashed down the sideline for a touchdown. "My heart feels like It is In my mouth," Jerry, 15, told a teammate. Then he collapsed. A few minutes later he died at a hospital. A post mortem was under way today to determine what caused Jerry's death. He had no history of a heart condition. He had been play ing touch football. There had been no body contact. The boy's sudden death stunned his schoolmates in the physical education class. Earlier in the year Allman had taken a physical fitness test. He made one of the high est scores In the school.
