King, Aumsville, gave birth here Monday night to a set of twins, but her husband only yawned. It was the fam ily's fourth set of twins. The latest set, both boys, came to Mrs. King at 6:22 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. They weighed 6 pounds, 15 ounces. King, who is currently out of work because of a back injury, and his wife now have 11 chil dren. Three of the 11 came into the world as solos. The first set of twins was born nine years ago in Klamath Falls, the second set five years aso in Oklahoma, and a third set two years ago in Roseburg. Jones ol the State Board of Education Tuesday restated the board's hope that basic school support will be increased to 46 per cent of all school costs in 1B63-64, or $135 per census child. This would take some pres sure off property taxpayers, who now pay the bulk of grade and high school costs in Oregon. The state now contributes about 36 per cent of local school costs, based on $120 per census child. The 1963 legislature will decide whether to increase this, and by how much. Writing in the latest issue of Education News, put out by the Oregon Education De partment, Jones noted the board favors a gradual in crease in basic school support to 50 per cent. $150 Eyed The board favors a 48 per cent state contribution by 10B4-65, or $150 per census child. A comprehensive public educational program, and one with quality, must be ade quately financed and "such fi nancing should be elficient and reasonably equitable for all taxpayers, Jones said. Jones, a Brooks onion farm er, said money needs for grade and high schools in 1063-65 will approach $475 million, $50 million more than the cur rent budget. The $475 million includes local, state and fed eral funds. Jones said the Increase is reflected by several things, in cluding: -An expected influx of 12, 000 more pupils, requiring more teachers and equipment. -The need for building more than 1,000 new class rooms. -"Modest" salary increases for teachers and others. Washington - OJPH - The Post Office Department said Tuesday it was going to flood the market with hundreds of thousands of deliberately mis printed Dag Hammerskjold stamps to undercut "the in flated value" of a few hun dred sold by mistake. The announcement came after disclosures that at least 400 of the original 120 mil lion stamps in the commemo rative issue were run through a color overlay press upside down. The effect would be to drastically slash the value of the 100 stamps known to be in circulation, cither in the hands of collectors or in the mail. Leonard Sherman, an Irvington. N. J., jeweler, has an unbroken sheet of 50 of the stamps which he estimated was worth $500,000. Gavo Three Away Gerald P. Clark, Akron, Ohio, who brought the mis prints to light, said he and two friends had 19 of the stamps and they valued them at $2,000 to $3,000 each. Clark said he bought a sheet of 50 but gave three away and mailed 31 on letters. The department said the de cision to print 400,000 deliber ately misprinted stamps was in line with Postmaster Gen eral J. Edward Day's policy of "avoiding production of rare or overvalued philatelic items." The additional misprints will carry the same plate numbers as the few stamps in circulation. James F. Kellcher, special assistant to the Postmaster General, said: "Our idea was to make it possible for all col lectors to be able to buy one or some of the stamps." Asked by newsmen what he would pay for one of the Ham marskjold misprints, Kellcher said: "Four cents, no more." Meanwhile, post offices throughout the country rum maged through their stocks to see if they have any of the misprinted stamps. The Post Office Department ordered a temporary halt to sales of the four-cent stamps Monday while the check is being made. So far the whereabouts of 100 of the stamps are known. One set of 50 was bought in Ohio and another set in New Jersey. Color Upside Down The black and yellow Ham marskjold stamp was issued Oct. 24. In a printing accident, the yellow color came out up side down on two sheets of 200 stamps apiece With 400 of the misprinted stamps known to be in circu lation, their value to collec tors have decreased. They would have been far more valuable if only one sheet of 200 had been put on sale. Laughton Said in Serious Condition Hollywood - WPD - Actor Charles Laughton, 63, was re ported in "quite serious con dition" today at Cedars of Lebanon hospital where he is fighting a battle ag.inst can cer. The Academy Award win ner, suffering from malignan cy since January, underwent surgery in June for removal the of a vertebra to which cancer had spread. Until recently Laughton had been holding his own and had remained cheerful and confident despite hi- illness. Following surgery, Laugh ton began receiving cobalt therapy that held the cancer in check for a long period of time. He now is receiving chemical treatment. Jens O. Parents also will receive a briefing preceding 10-minule class intervals. During the class visitations teachers will inform parents of their young people's pro grams and review class objec tives and procedures.
