Mofher 'Hopeful' Son To Be Freed Hong KonR-llPH-Mrs. Hugh Redmond returned from eight hours of visits with her im prisoned son in Red China Wednesday and said she still was "hopeful" for his eventual release. But the Yonkers, N.Y., wid ow refused to discuss further the possibility of freedom for her son, High Redmond Jr., jailed on espionage charges 11 years ago. Her last previ ous visit was in 1058. Mrs. Redmond, 65, said sho spent four two-hour sessions with her son and found him "quite changed but otherwise nkav." Redmond. 43. a for mer Shanghai tobacco import er, was sentenced to a lifo prison term in 1055. "Everyone changes," Mrs. Redmond told newsmen after crossing the border into Hong Kong. "If he were at my sido it would be different . . . But anyway he's all right." De Gaulle Satisfied Paris-il'Pli-President Charles rie Gaulle told his government Wednesday he was satisfied with the results of Sunday's constitutional referendum on which he slaked his job as president. An official communique, published after a three -hour cabinet meeting presided over by De Gaulle, said "the presi dent of the republic empha sized the great significance of the positive reply given by the nation to the question ha put to it." De Gaulle won 62 per cent of the voles cast, although lci-s than 50 per cent of those ot the entire electorate becauso more than 6 million registered voters failed to vote. The referendum was on a bill to change the constitution so that Dc Gaulle's successors will be elected by popular vote of the whole nation In stead of by a limited college of 50.000 notables.
