From the fields, along the roadside and at the seashore the women have collected items such as seaweed, kelp, fungas, shells and driftwood, and from the woods they have gathered branches, cones, nuts, acorns, leaves and mosses. From their gardens and those of friends they have se lected choice flowers, vege tables, berries and plants, anything which they can dry, cure, treat with glycerine, preserve or spray. Members explained that just as persons improve their own personal appearance with beauty aids, they do their best to make the most of nature's gifts in vegetation. Many have found the work to be a form of therapy, both physically and mentally, as they create their original ar rangements and in landscap ing their own gardens. An added feature of this year's show is an exhibit of all the native cones, each one labeled with its correct bo tanical name. The collection has been loaned to the club by Dr. and Mrs. Lewis G. Centner, who have made an extensive study of native cones in Oregon. Another display will be of dried and cured materials such as the members use in their work and hostesses will explain the methods of curing and drying them.
